it's doable, but takes some effort.
the issue I found, at least with my testing, is that Ableton sees the buttons as pitch bend, only.
my solution was to use a midi translator to change the messages to my desired note type. and voila, Ableton control from the GCP.
YMMV, IMHO, IIRC, whatever.

have you read the manual, at all? the 6505+ needs no special cable (that i'm aware of). Just use a Y cable to split off to two jacks on the GCX and the other single TRS end into your 6505+.
