Mesa Rectifier Roadster Rig

Post by domct203 »

Hello all,
A few months ago I updated my "A" rig from Axess & Behringer MIDI gear to all Voodoo Lab/DMC MIDI gear. My first intent was to use the new Voodoo Lab gear for my "B" rig (Mesa Mark V), but after a few minutes of programming I decided that this needed to be put into my "A" rig. The GCP is super easy to set up, and very easy to edit "on the floor"

Here are some pic's:

In the rack is an ART PR8 PRO Voltage Regulator/Conditioner, Line 6 Relay G90 Wireless, TC G-Major, DMC/Voodoo Lab GCX Audio Switcher, Voodoo Lab Control Switcher and Pedal Power 2+. In the GCX loops are an 808 modded Ibanez TS-9, Xotic BB Preamp, ISP Decimator and MXR 10 Band GEQ. I just recently picked up the Crybaby rack wah, but there is no room left in the rack so she's on top for now. Guess it's time for a bigger rack!

Here's the Control Switcher and PP+2, mounted in the sliding shelf with the FX pedals:

And to control it all, a Voodoo Lab Ground Control Pro on a DIY pedalboard along with the wah controller, expression pedal (made from a broken Crybaby wah I picked up for $15) for volume control through the G-Major, and my "pseudo" IA switch box:

The pedalboard goes into an ATA case for safe travel to gigs, I forgot to grab a picture of it last night at practice.

I wish I started using the Voodoo Lab gear years ago! I can not believe how easy it was to get the rig up and running, and the GCP makes it so easy to modify things as my rig changes. If I wanted to change something with the FCB1010, I had to plug it into a PC to use an editor.

Looks awesome! How do you like the Line 6 G90 wireless?

I love it. It sounds every bit as good as a quality cable. No dropouts, no noise, just great tone.

How do you control the other functions such as solo, reverb, fx on your roadster? Do you use the G-Major to control these?

Thanks!

Yes, I use the G-Major to control FX Loop and Solo. I don't switch the 'verb, I only use it on the cleans anyway so I just leave the controls off on the other channels. I do have one IA button for FX Loop, and another through one of the Expression pedal jacks for Solo.

Dom,
Do you have a scematic of your rig? I am interested in how you hooked everything up.
Have a similar rig, and I'm looking for alternative's on how to set it up.

I don't have a schematic but can try to answer any questions you may have.

It is a very straight forward setup, no fancy routing at all.
MIDI chain:
GCP Out -> GCX In -> GCX Thru -> G Maj In -> G Maj Thru -> Control Switcher.

Audio chain:
Wireless -> 1st GCX Loop In -> all loops in series -> Last GCX Loop Out -> Amp Input.
Amp FX Send -> G Maj Input -> G Maj Output -> Amp FX Return.

Switching:
Control Switcher relays 1-4 to External Channel Trigger jacks 1-4 on amp. G Maj Relays out to FX Loop and Solo External Trigger jacks on amp.

I think that's pretty much it, I hope it helps.

Thanks dom that helps a lot.
One more question though. The cable going to the control switcher, is it an RJM made cable or another brand?
Thanks again.

Awesome rig by the way.

Neither, I use standard 1/4" cables.

I do not believe RJM makes cables for Voodoo Labs gear.
