Guess I'll have to get the camera out!

Post by musikman1 »

I do a lot of full orchestra MIDI sequencing work for theatre since the mid-90's. and the Digital MX-8 has been one of my most useful processors. I use one on Port 1, and another on Port 2, so I can plug in 13 synths and sample players, just added a Roland SPD-8, so I'm using my Roland CR80 on Port1 CH10, and the SPD-8 on Port2 CH10, as an experiment to see how well it will work out.

The project? Broadway show called Once On This Island, which is a heavily Caribbean score. The Keyboard1 book has 32 settings, and the Keys2 has 49, so it's been fun getting all of the keys to fit along with the winds, strings, guitars, steel drums, vibes, and the like!

If anyone else is into doing Broadway stuff DO drop me a note, we can compare notes, or bad habits, etc.

I've been at the MIDI stuff since the mid-90's, which was (in my opinion) the earliest that the technology was stable enough, and the hardware was "tasty" enough to allow a recognizeable sound as an orchestra, rather than a guy that punched up the trumpet, flute and string keys on an organ and started playing.

I'm not sure how this system works with mail, but you can contact me via my home email (rick@bway2.com), or here.

I hope to make some friends and get a tip or two along the way to help me with my sequencing work.
