Here's a pedalboard that I did for a worship player down in the South Bay Area who wanted a rig that allowed him to use all of his staple effects on the pedalboard and patch in other "occasional" pedals off-board, but in the middle of the signal path.

We built him a custom interface which housed a Vertex Dual Buffer and the patching effects loop (mentioned above), which allows you to insert pedals externally from the pedalboard but after the distortion pedals and before modulation and delay.

The order of the effects are:

INTERFACE (buffer), EHX Micro POG, Vox Wah, Wampler Ego Compressor, Gristle King, Rockett Blue Note, INTERFACE (patchable effects loop), Boss FV-500L Volume Pedal (with Sonic Research ST-200 in the tuner out), Rockett Josh Smith Dual Tremolo, Eventide ModFactor, Strymon El Capistan, Eventide TimeFactor, INTERFACE (buffer)

Some very cool tones can come out of this thing! With the patchable effects loop you can really make the pedalboard expandable to accommodate any gigging situation. The Eventide Factor pedals are also very versatile and can achieve infinite mod and delay sounds, plus the El Capistan provides a great tape simulation where the TimeFactor falls a bit short.
