Which POWER product? (help an elec retard)

Post by storm »

Hey guys. I've read as much as I can and checked the database of pedals but I'm really not understanding what I'm doing. I would appreciate some knowledgeable insider's help in powering my pedal board.

GCP
Digitech Whammy (v4 I think...the MIDI In one)
TC Polytune Mini
Sony DWZ-B30GB wireless base

These are the four things I need to power in the pedal board.

Which Pedal Power product and cables would I require?

Added info:
I read about the requirements of the Sony unit.

Quote:
"In 9V operation, this unit needs 120 mA. Most power supplies have a max current of around 100 mA per jack,so make sure you are powering it off a high current jack like on the Voodoo Labs Pedal Power 2+ (no affiliation, it's just the one I use and it has two jacks that have a higher current output of 250 mA)."

just in case that helps for the Sony.

I don't want to overbuy or buy the wrong product. I've gone completely rack based (I play The Edge in a tribute show) so the racks work well but I still need a few things at my feet because I don't have a Dallas and I'm trying to keep it as small as possible with one power unit for quick setup in my board.

Thanks in advance for any help / advice you can provide a newbie in electrical systems.

The board will be 36" wide and between 20-24" in depth. The order will probably be:

WHAMMY --- POLYTUNE --- Sony Wireless --- GCP (24") -- MISSION Pedal.

If the pedal board had room I might stick my VOX Wah in as well but I want to ensure I get the right pedal power for these units in one go.

OH....other note. I bought the Rocktron 7pin to 5pin MIDI cable
to power the GCP from the rack and I've tried two cables so far with no luck. The power plug connects to the Rocktron and power goes down the cable but as soon as I stick the plug all the way in the Rocktron sleeve the power cuts out. It's not the cable as I've tried 2 cables now and there must be an issue with my wall wart. Thought I'd throw that in. I've tried so much to make this easy and it has not been.

Thanks everyone!

I'm not too sure there really is a non-overkill power supply for your setup. You really have just three pedals to power, but the Whammy (if it is v4 and not v5) requires AC power and cannot be powered from the DC outputs of any model Pedal Power. An ISO-5 could certainly power the remaining tuner and wireless receiver as well as a v5 Whammy.
For the Rocktron Cable, (it's the cable... it's always the cable ;) ) try putting a zip tie around the pig-tail barrel jack after connecting the Ground Control Pro power supply so it clamps down on the plug real good.

I hope that helps!
