2.5MM Red barrel plugs safely power Moogerfoogers?

Do the red barrel center positive cables safely power Moogerfoogers? I have several of these but they're 2.5mm.

Is it important that I use the 2.1mm center positive cable instead? If so, why is this?

The 2.5mm barrel won't provide as reliable a connection as the optional Reverse Polarity Barrel Cable will for the Moogerfooger pedals.
