Hey all, my question is about how many mA's i'd be using by combining outputs off the PP2+
i have an 18v 535Q wah which is powered through its 18v barrel input or 2x 9v batteries on the under-side of the heel. I found no info in the manual or on Dunlop's website but i'm sure the wah is rated at 150mA.
My question is this -- by combining 2x PP2+ 9v outputs (100mA each) am i gonna be pumping 50mA too much into the wah circuit (200mA into 150mA) and can this damage it? or does the wah just take whatever it needs?
cheers guys,
happy holidays --- Dawesy.

Re: mA question --> 2x9v outputs powering 18v wah
The mA rating on the adapter or power supply doesn't mean that this is the current it will put into a load, but rather this rating on the adapter or power supply is what the adpater/power supply can take. If your wah pedal draws 150ma as a load, and you power it with a 300ma adapter, it will just use what it needs to run, which in your case is 150ma....your adapter will run much cooler which is fine. But if you overload your adapter, for example your wah needs 450ma to run and you use a 200ma adapter, then the adapter will eventually heat up and stop working.
But for the PP2 I can't answer your question because I am not familiar with that power supply. If it is a 9volt power supply, you would have to connect 2 of them in series to obtain 18v...but I have no idea if you can do this with it or not.

AWESOME
thanks Dude705!
Voodoo Lab says because the outlets are isolated you can use two 9v outlets together to power one 18v pedal..
I just gathered if you're doubling voltages then you'd be doubling how many mA go into the pedal too.
Thanks for the explaination -- makes a lot more sense now!!
Dawesy.

An 18v 535Q does not require 150mA, that's the rating of Dunlop's adapter. It works fine from any two 9v outs wired in series. We have a cable for doing this or you can make your own.dawesy1986 wrote:AWESOME

When you combine outputs in series, you add the voltages. In this case, 9V+9V=18V. Current capacity doesn't change. If the two outputs had different current ratings, then you'd only get the lower of the two.
