Can you use a parallel Y cable with the Sag outputs?

Post by The Blue Letter »

Is it possible to use the Sag Outputs of a PP2+ and a parallel cable to effectively get the right voltage and mA rating? I am trying to power a 12V pedal at 200mA without having to use the courtesy outlet, and ports 5 and 6 are already being used.

So I was wondering if I sagged the output of ports 7 & 8 each to 6 volts and used it with a parallel Y cable would that work?

Please let me know. Thanks a lot.

The SAG outputs will not work for this as the output would still be 9V when using the parallel cable. What is the pedal you are trying to power?

I am trying to figure out a way to power my Guyatone VT-X Tremelo pedal. Like I mentioned previously, I am really trying not to use the courtesy outlet. I hate the wall warts, and port 5 and 6 are already being used. I am not sure if there is a way to combine any of the other output ports to power it, but if there is even a way of modding it internally to get what I need I am confident enough in my soldering skills and such to do the job. Let me know if you have any ideas or any other creative options. Thanks again

Since you are already using outputs 5 and 6 you can instead use a parallel cable from any two of outputs 1-4 with their DIP switches set away from Normal for the VT-X.

I am assuming it would be the PPY model of "Y" cable and not the PPEH24. Right?
Thanks again as always for all your help John. You rule!

It would not be either of those cables. You need a Parallel Y cable, which currently is a custom cable and as such is not shown on the stock cable list at this time. Feel free to give us a call or send an email to info@voodoolab.com to order the appropriate cable for this.
