Power me up! another one of those posts

Post by TheBiGTasty »

this should be quick... what power supply do you recommend and what daisy chain cables do you recommend to power this?

MXR Microamp
Boss TU-2 Tuner
Dunlop 95Q Wah
Electro Harmonix Mini QTron
DOD Octoplus
Fulltone Plimsoul
Fulltone OCD
Road Rage 4 Loop bypass switch
Boss Ph-3 Phaser
Fulltone Supatrem
Boss DD-5 Delay
Fulltone Carbon Copy Delay
Another Road Rage 4 Loop bypass switch

Any idea on how to split up the load if I were to put these all on one pp2+? I'm having trouble finding the mA draw for a couple of these pedals... Little help?

Thanks,
Evan

Pretty much everything in your list is compatible to be run from any output on the Pedal Power 2+ with the DIP switches set to Normal. I couldn't find information on the Fulltone Plimsoul and Carbon Copy so you'll have to contact them to get the power requirements for those two devices. But as for everything else it can all be powered via a Pedal Power 2+.

We recommend against "daisy chaining" due to the noise issues it's known for causing. With daisy chain cables you defeat the purpose of having an isolated power supply.

However...all hope is not lost. ;)

We do make a Y splitter cable that will split 1 output into 2 outputs. One side of it is ground lifted to allow you to split the outputs but maintain the ground isolation. Pedals like your Crybaby, the Road Rage switchers, the Fulltone OCD and the MXR Microamp can all be paired with one another to one output.

You can order the Y splitter directly from us via contacting us at (707) 545-0600 ext 110 between the hours of 9AM and 5PM PST Monday through Friday. We accept Visa, Master Card, American Express and Discover cards.

The Carbon Copy is "normal" 9V dc. I measured the current draw to approx 12 mA

The Carbon Copy manual states that it draws a max of 26mA.
The PlimSoul manual states that it draws 12mA.

Well that certainly is helpful, except for that last reply... douchbag... how much do the splitter cables cost each? Trying to price everything out. And does anyone has any idea how many mA's these pedals draw?
Dunlop 95Q
DOD Octoplus
MXR Microamp
Road-Rage or Loopmaster bypass strips

Hehe... that does look bad doesn't it? There certainly was no ill will directed at you, just too quick of a reply on my part to provide the missing information.
Anyway, I'm more an ***hole than a douchebag ;) ...but I will buy you a beer, given the chance.

The 95Q draws about .5mA so it is not of much concern. The DOD and MXR actual current consumption is proving to be elusive, however I would bet that neither one exceeds 50mA. The bypass strips only require power for the status LEDs so their current draw should not be very high either, however actual current draw will depend on how many loops, and thus status LEDs, will be on the specific bypass strip used.

The Split Output Y Adapter cable is $6.00. We do also offer custom cables where you can specify the length and connectors used.

Good Luck!

John, your help is much appreciated. The post I was referring to was spam and has since been deleted, you've been nothing but helpful.
Thanks again,
