Boss DD2 (MIJ) ... what PP2+ setting?

Post by shredmiyagi »

I have an old DD2 that freaks out with the 2 Boss adaptors I have. 1 is an old ACA that works for my CE2 & CS2 pedals, and then I have a "PSA-120S" which works with the DD3, DD20, etc.

The DD2 says use "PSA Adaptor" and it apparently has a larger voltage capacity.. but I assume the old JP 80s PSA adaptor is different than the new PSA-120S I have.

Anyway, it functions when I use in the PP2+ 1-4 slots, both ON or OFF. The light is not very bright on either, and there's a little hum... I'm more worried about frying the DD2, so can anyone recommend me the best place to power it?

Thanks.

I don't see why the PSA-120S (newer Boss adaptor) makes my pedal go wacko after 15 minutes of use. The DD-2 light goes bright and works perfect at first, but after some time it starts to hum loudly and cut out. Maybe one of the pedal's chips is dying? But it doesn't happen with a 9V battery...

This same PSA-120S adaptor works for all newer Boss pedals which work with the NORMAL setting on 1-4.. but I know there are some variations (like the DD-20 twin which works with the PSA-120S... but needs the 5 or 6 slot).

Again I'm very scared of frying this ancient pedal (hopefully it's not already damaged).. but been messing around a little. On slot 1-4 NORMAL, it works OK, but there's a lot of hum/ground noise compared to the battery and PSA-120S (before it craps out). Not a big difference when I turn the voltage switch to ON.

Is slot 5-6 a possibility?

Any one of output 1-4 with the corresponding DIP switch set to Normal should be the correct setting for this pedal. Try this setup with just this pedals connected to the Pedal Power 2+ and the guitar connected directly to the DD-2 and the DD-2 connected directly to your amp... is the noise still the same?
