The faq section in VL site says that I can power the Pedal Switcher also with DC coming out from L6 outs in ON position. 2 questions: where do I find the proper cable (the inner plug in the AC input on the switcher is bigger and requires a larger hole), it doesn't seem to exist in VL site, and can I power my old DMC Ground Ctrl from the MIDI cable also with such powering of the switcher?
thanks.
PP2+ and Pedal Swtcher
Re: PP2+ and Pedal Swtcher
The cable required to power the Pedal Switcher from output 5 or 6 is the PPL6 or PPL6-R found here...
http://www.voodoolab.com/cables.htm
(3rd and 4th cable down on the Pedal Power 2+ cable list.)
The Pedal Power 2+ currently ships with a PPL6-R cable included in the standard cable pack.
However, if you do use the method above to power the Pedal Switcher you will not be able to phantom power the Ground Control Pro.
Good Luck!

Which is true also for the older Ground Control labeled just DMC right?
Re: PP2+ and Pedal Swtcher
Heh, you caught me! I think I just auto type "Pro" now... it has been 11 years.
This would be true of any version of the Ground Control.
There simply is not enough current available to reliably power a Pedal Switcher and a Ground Control from a Pedal Power 2+. When powering the Pedal Switcher with DC, you must provide about 12V. This is why you must use output 5 or 6 with the DIP switch set away from Normal. The extra load the Ground Control would add, even with using a current doubler cable, would pull the voltage down too far for reliable operation of the Pedal Switcher relays.
The Pedal Power AC, on the other hand, would be more than capable of powering a Pedal Switcher that is also providing Phantom Power to a Ground Control.
I hope this helps!

Re: PP2+ and Pedal Swtcher
Well, I already have the proper AC supply for the switcher...I'm only trying to optimize the cabling in the pedalboard. What I'd like to know, if I provide the Ground Control with it's own supply (could it be the the other L6 PP2+ output?), should I take care of finding a 3 wire MIDI cable to avoid the phantom connection or can i use the current 5 wire one?
Thanks a lot for your patience,
Alf.

Re: PP2+ and Pedal Swtcher
No problems to worry over... use whatever MIDI cable you would like.
