Powering the Adrenalinn III

Post by Bodie »

Hi John

I want to power an Adrenilinn III with a PP2. I know it needs double the current. Do I need the PPEH24, then power from 5 and 6 with the dip "Normal" or "Away"?

Call to order this cable?

I scanned the past topics, didn't find a solid answer.

Thank You!

The EH24 is a Voltage Doubler cable and will not work for this setup.

You can power the AdrenaLinn III for outputs 5 and 6 with the DIP switches set to Normal on a Pedal Power 2+ using a Current Doubler cable.

For this one you can have a custom cable made that directly connects between the Pedal Power 2+ and the pedal or you can use the Current Doubler Adapter (p/n PPAP) together with a reverse polarity barrel cable (p/n PPREV).

Good Luck!

Hi John

I hooked up the Current Doubler/Reverse Polarity combo cable to output 5 & 6, Dip Switch on Normal.

It does indeed power the Adrenalinn III. However, after a couple seconds manipulating the controls of the AIII to change a preset....the unit will shut down and then boots back up.

This Does Not happen when using the wall wart transformer!

is it possible that manipulating the controls on the unit, increases it current draw beyond 500 Mv?

The wall wart label reads 7.5V 500Mv. It actually meters @ 10.62 V.

The Current Doubler cable on 5 & 6 meters @ 9.05V

Any Idea, what is causing this?

Am I at the end of the road and stuck using the Wall Wart?

Oops, I guess I should have been sure if this was a Pedal Power 2 or Pedal Power 2+. I have been assuming a Pedal Power 2+ but I see above you say "PP2"... If this is in fact a Pedal Power 2, then you will want to flip the DIP switches for outputs 5 and 6 to the away from Normal position.

This is directly from the AdrenaLinn III manual...

"Q: I'd like to power my AdrenaLinn from a pedalboard power supply. What are the specific power specifications? A: For either AdrenaLinn 1, 2 or 3, any power adaptor will work that has the following qualifications: 9 volts dc (regulated or unregulated) at least 500 milliamps, plug dimensions of 12mm long by 5.5mm outside diameter by 2.1mm inside diameter, center pin positive."

On a Pedal Power 2, flipping the switches for Outputs 5 and 6 will set these outputs to unregulated mode, thus removing the 100mA limit each output has when in regulated mode.

Sorry for any confusion.

Yup, That did it! Fantastic! It works!

I too had been reading the Pedal Power 2+ manual by mistake, and was confused by this.

It is indeed a Pedal Power 2! They have some differences.

Thanks so much for the help!
