Newbie and Pedal Power choices: 4-8 pedals?

Hello Voodoo Lab Forum Members,

I am new to powering pedals. I currently have and only plan to use simple 9V pedals. Right now, I have 4 standard 9V pedals. I am trying to identify the best power solution, but I want the flexibility of increasing the pedals from 4 to probably a maximum of 8.

I was thinking of getting the Pedal Power X4 since I currently have 4 standard 9v pedals. If I want to expand in the future, can I use the Pedal Power X4 Expander Kit with the Pedal Power X4?

As an alternative, I was considering the Pedal Power ISO-5. Can I use a standard 9v pedal with the dedicated 18V output or will this harm the pedal?

If the above doesn't work, I am also considering the Pedal Power 2 Plus since I can use up to 8 of the 9v pedals. If I just use 3 or 4 pedals on the Pedal Power 2 Plus, is there any problem with this?

I recommend going with Pedal Power 2 Plus.

The X4 Expander Kit cannot be powered from an X4.

Also in general, using too high a voltage (and/or the wrong polarity) can cause damage.

9VDC pedals should be powered only with 9VDC.
12VDC pedals should be powered only with 12VDC.
18VDC pedals should be powered only with 18VDC.

etc..
