Options for adding to a 4X

Post by DCE »

I have a dingbat tiny with 4X pedal power. I love it, but want a bigger board with power for 8 to 10 pedals (power for 8 pedals would work, but one or two more could be handy). I'm looking at the dingbat small-EX or medium board right and trying to think through which would fit my pedals best. I can figure that part out on my own, but I'm a little confused on the power.

I'm trying to figure out what my options are. Are there ways for getting 8 power outputs using my current 4X? It looks like a 4X expander can go into a 4X, but the expander takes one of the 4X outputs, so that's 7 total outputs in the end, right?

I'd prefer to save a little money and use the 4x that I already have on this new, bigger board, but if the cost of doing that will be close to the cost of getting a new power supply that does 8+ on its own, I'll happily keep my 4x with the dingbat tiny it's on now.

Thanks for the help!

Pedal Power X8 would be a great option.

Also in theory, you could use four Output Splitter Adapters, part# PPAV, one in each 9V Pedal Power X4 output, to create eight 9V outputs. You'd also need 4 additional power cables to connect pedals 5-8. That might work fine but isolated power is generally preferable to using splitters if possible.

You cannot power a Pedal Power X4 from another Pedal Power X4.

Cheers!
