Hi.. Just got the pedal power 2 plus and the voltage doubler cable.. Plugged into ports 1 & 2 and the dip switches set away from normal.
Measuring on a multimeter shows 24.7v
Plugged into my ehx qtron but the pedal fails to power.
Measuring the original ehx PSU it reads 32v!!
(The label of the ehx pedal states 24v 100ma centre pin positive)
Any ideas why this wouldn't work?
pedal power 2 plus and 24v ehx qtron fail
Re: pedal power 2 plus and 24v ehx qtron fail
Just put the original PSU back into the qtron and it no longer powers on (since plugging in the voodoo) so its possibly damaged my pedal.
What is the case with warranty here?
Sureley ehx will just say I shouldn't of used a 3rd party power supply? Or do voodoo take some responsibility?
Thanks

Re: pedal power 2 plus and 24v ehx qtron fail
The 24V Q-tron should be powered using our 2.5mm Voltage Doubling Cable connected to any two of outputs 1-4 with the corresponding DIP switches set away from Normal.
Is this the cable you used?
Some pedals require the audio cables be connected before they will power up. Not too sure if this pedal would work this way since it doesn't take batteries anyway, but have you tested it with guitar cables connected to the audio In and Out on the Q-Tron?
I would be willing to take a look at both your pedal Power 2+ and the Q-tron if you would want to send them in to me.

thanks for the reply.. yes it was the 2.5mm cable with the red end.. thesewere plugged into ports 1 7 2 of the pedal power, with their dip switches set away from normal.JohnClark wrote:The 24V Q-tron should be powered using our 2.5mm Voltage Doubling Cable connected to any two of outputs 1-4 with the corresponding DIP switches set away from Normal.

thanks for the offer but there is no need, EHX have taken the pedal back to investigate.

Kc,
What was the result from Electro Harmonix?

It has been well over a year since we heard from kC_jbohan wrote:Kc,

There really is no way I can see that the Pedal Power could have caused this failure, particularly if you note the voltages he says he measured... we provided a regulated 24V, while the included power adapter read well over that. So we can be reasonably certain that it wasn't due to an over-voltage on our part.
We have powered this pedal many times in other rigs with never an issue... in fact we have powered every EHX pedal that has originally included the same "24V 100mA" power supply with no issue.
What we don't know about the particular situation above, beside what the finding was upon inspection, is if the pedal actually worked in the first place, or if the original power adapter might be what actually caused the failure.
If you are looking for yourself to power a Q-tron from a Pedal Power I would not let this one old post shake your confidence it this being a perfect and reliable solution
Good Luck!

Re: pedal power 2 plus and 24v ehx qtron fail
My Q-TRON + is powered perfectly with the voltage doubler (red reverse polarity!!!!!) In the pedal power plus and on my pedal power 4x4 using the 2 12v outputs. You may have damaged it if not done correctly. Its like turning an amp on with no speaker connected.
Re: pedal power 2 plus and 24v ehx qtron fail
Hey.. just had an email notification from the new post.. I didn't receive one for the previous post..
Electro Harmonix replaced the unit but didn't say what caused it if it was a defect in the unit or from the power supplied
.. I wasn't brave enough to use the voodoo again so I just use the original PSU.
Cheers

Good luck! Save side is the 4x4 and doubler red reverse polarity cable. It has two 12v out puts no dip switches plug the two black ends into the 12v outputs and red end into the Q-TRON and done. The adapter got way too annoying and had to replace it twice. I have two qtron + s. And just got the Keeley neutrino small 9v and same controls. Sounds great
