Hi.
Just fitted my Voodoo Labs pp2 to my board and all my pedals work, apart from the BOSS GE-7
No lights, nothing.
I did do a search, that came up with the fact I should have moved the dip switch, as its an ACA power type.
Will this damage the unit?

Have I killed it?

BOSS only powers up with the battery adapter fitted.

A Boss pedal that requires the ACA power supply should have its power jack connected to any one of outputs 1-4 on a Pedal Power 2+ with the corresponding DIP switch set away from Normal.
Plugging it in to any output with the switch set to Normal wouldn't harm the pedal, it just won't perform as expected.

Yeah did all that, but still dead.
Taken pedal in for a repair.

That is very strange indeed... Boss pedals are notoriously difficult to kill and I have yet to see one killed by a Pedal Power unit.

Just to be very sure, you do have a guitar cable connected to the instrument input on the pedal when powering it, right?

Do you happen to know what output you had the pedal connected to originally? Did it ever work when connected there or was this a problem on the first go?

Yes I had a lead connected, this should illuminate the red led light.
It was connected to no3 output.
The pedal worked with the battery snap connected to the voodoo, but not via the aca connection.

It must be coincidence.
It worked no problem with my previous cheapo power unit.

I have the exact same problem with the GE-7. I tried various 9 volt adapters, from my iSpot Pro unit and separate power adapters with same rating. THE UNIT WILL NOT WORK WITHOUT A FULLY CHARGED BATTERY.

Question1: Why would BOSS demand a special adapter (ACA-120) when every other pedal can take common 9 volt adapters?

Question2: Why not sell the ACA-120 WITH THE GE-7 since its 'mandatory'

Question3: Did anyone get the GE-7 working without a battery?

The reason is that... older Boss pedals (about pre-1996) used a power supply (labeled ACA as opposed to the newer labeled PSA) which actually output 12VDC. [/quote]

When these older Boss pedals are powered via their external power jack (from an isolated power source), to function properly, 12VDC must be used.

Whereas, if these same older Boss pedals are powered from their 9V battery connections (with a 9V battery or with a Battery Snap / 2.1mm Cable) 9VDC is required.
