My VL doubler cable isn't working...HELP!!!

Post by mattymel »

Hey. Following a suggestion from a random poster on The Gear Page, I recently purchased 2 Voodoo Labs Output Splitter Adaptors in hopes of getting a few more pedals on my board which is powered by a Power Plus 2. So far, I have yet to successfully power even one pedal with these adaptors and I am wondering why?

I have learned that certain pedals require more power than others even though they may use the same output power supply. But I am at a total loss as to how this works wth the splitting adaptor and what pedals of mine (if any) will work with these cables.

I have researched a few power consumptions. According to the Xotic website,
Both the Xotic SL Drive and SP Compressor require 9vdc/5mA. Yet neither work when I plug them in to the splitter adaptor.

Here is a list of some pedals I am hoping to power:

Teese Picture Wah
Hilton Pro Volume
Xotic SL Drive
Xotic SP comp
TC Polytune mini
EH Freeze
Fulltone MDV
Rockett Archer OD/Boost
Rockett Boing reverb
Caitlinbread Silverkiss OD
Seymour Duncan Vapor Trail delay

Will any of these work? Help! Please school me on what I am doing wrong or if these adaptors just don't work with any of these pedals. But if not, what would they work with?

As a test take two pedals that you were trying to power with the Output Splitter Adapter and be sure to run your guitar to the Input of the first pedal, the Output of the first pedal to the Input of the second pedal, and the Output of the second pedal to the Input of your amplifier. Use any output with the corresponding DIP switch set to Normal.

Just about any pair out of your list should work with the possible exception of the Freeze and the Fulltone pedal... The Freeze requires about 150mA so it should be powered from output 5 or 6 with the corresponding DIP switch set to Normal. The "MDV" has had a number of variations over the years and I don't know exactly which one you have ;)

I hope that helps!

I just recently purchased a double cable for my Fulltone MDV 3 and cannot get it to power on. All my other pedals work without issue. I've tried isolating it but to no avail. It powers on with the normal power supply, so I am wondering what I be missing? Please advise, thanks!

To power the 18V Mini-DejáVibe 3 use any two Pedal Power 2 Plus outputs (DIP switches set normal) and a Voltage Doubler Cable (standard polarity, 2.1mm), part# PPY

Are you using the correct voltage doubler (part# PPY, see link above)?
