Powering a wah

Post by bettsaj »

Ok, so on my pedal board I'm going to be having the following, from left to right:

Ground Control pro
Ernie Ball volume Pedal (Wired to the GCP as an expression)
Mission Engineering Expression Pedal
Area 51 wah

My question is this..... What do you think is the best way of powering the wah with 9vdc.... I was going to just velcro the wah to the board and use batteries, but I was wondering if anyone has any ideas for powering with phantom power.

I'm going to be getting a loom made at some point that will have the 2 audio leads for the send and return on the wah, and also the midi lead for the GCP...Could I power the wah someway from the loom?

Unless there will be something else to power, I'd go with a battery for the wah. A battery lasts a very long time in a traditional wah pedal.

Otherwise I'd just run power out to the board for a power supply and to cover any future changes.

I hope that helps!

I made a loom and then zip-tied an extension cord to it. I have never had an ounce of interference.

The 9v comes from a cheap pedal power supply from ebay. Works like a champ!

I never, ever use batteries because they fade at different rates and can be corrosive.

Bend your will to learn midi, then you can bend midi to your will...
