You are CORRECT, sir. I removed the switches since they were redundant since the GCX PRO gave me direct access to the loops.

Because of the type of switches you use it was an easy modification and totally reversible. I've since re-installed them on one of the pedal switchers for use in a different rig. Very handy.

I, too, have a no Velcro credo and have been using this stuff for years...

A little goes a long way and it's very strong yet removes easily enough leaving no residue.

As previously suggested, use a paddle bit to drill shallow holes for the GCPro feet, put a 1" square on each corner - maybe one top and bottom in the middle, too - and you'll be good to go.
