The GSP 1101 does not respond well to the external Tap Tempo box. You will have to set an Instant Access button on the Ground Control Pro to control the Tap Tempo in order to have it work reliably.
If you still want an external Tap Tempo Box for another use, then you have three choices...
-We can provide a schematic of the required switch.
-We can sell you a switch that we make in a small "MXR sized" box for $50 (call or write for current pricing and availability)
-You can get the Mission TT Latching from the guys at
Mission Engineering.
I hope that helps!

Can a external switch be used as a instant Access button? If so then I'd like to order one.How do I set-up the tap tempo on my GCP?Thanks

The Tap Tempo switch can be programmed to target any Device you have listed and set to any Control Change number... it is just like setting an Expression Pedal.
What device and parameter do you want to control?

Heh... looks like i just got caught reading too fast
Anyway, setting an Instant Access button to control Tap Tempo on the GSP1101 will first start with the Ground Control Pro...
1. Go into Setup Mode and Select Instant Access.
2. Select the Instant Access button you want to use as Tap Tempo.
3. Set this button to point to the correct device (the GCP 1101 in this case)
4. Set the Control Change number you will use.
5. Set this button to Momentary.
(This is all detailed in the Instant Access section of the Ground Control Pro manual under Setup.)
On the GSP1101... well, you'll have to do some programming
Here is what a Digitech Support person told another user here about using a Ground Control Pro Instant Access button, set to Control Change number 002, and set for a "Momentary" switch action...
"
You set "CC Tempo = CC 2" and that is all that should be assigned to CC 2 and this is all you should need for tapping in a delay amount via a CC.
The delay's tempo can only be "tapped" in by a CC and is not linked like other parameters.
The "on/off" setting is used when your CC sender sends a CC value of 127 when the foot switch is pressed and a value of 0 when it is released."
I believe the "CC/Controller Map" section of the GSP1101 manual will be your first stop for how to actually accomplish all of that.
Now for the external switch...
What I was referring to above is that you can use an external switch and program it just like you would if it were an actual Expression Pedal as far as the Ground Control Pro is concerned. It will not work as a replacement for all the things an Instant Access button can do. (for instance, there is no good way to set it to control a GCX Loop and we happen to know that it does not work as a temp switch for the GSP1101) So what I was asking above is, besides controlling tempo of the GSP1101, what would you want the external switch to do? Because is isn't a perfect solution for all occasions, I'm trying to save you the expense and hassle of buying/making one, then programming, only to find it won't work like you think. Its best use is in fact for tap tempo, but it just does not work correctly for your processor.

I need 4 axcess control switches and 1 tap tempo.I can create a tap tempo on the GCP but I will need to replace a axcess control switch with a exterior axcess control switch some how. This boils down to needing 5 axcess control buttons. If this is not possible then I'll have to forgo the tap tempo.

I don't think you need any compromise here or additional hardware... In the 4 Presets per Bank mode the Ground Control Pro has eight Instant access buttons. That gives you one for Tap Tempo, and seven more for whatever elst you want to turn on or off within a preset... what are the four other things you wanted to control?

I have it setup so the bottom 4 buttons change the channels and effects on the rack and amp.Buttons 1-8 are just the loop buttons...aren't they?I forget what this setup is called but I dont use 1-8

You have it set to 4 Presets per Bank mode. The bottom four buttons are Presets and the upper two rows are the Instant Access buttons.
You have your presets working as you like it seems. The Instant access buttons default to controlling GCX loops, but you can re-program them to do other things. Only an Instant Access button can be programmed for doing Tap Tempo, so you can re-program any one of the upper eight buttons to control the tempo on your processor.
