microphonic pedals?

Post by charleyrich »

I have a Pedal Power 2 plus and intermittently my pedals become microphonic. When the problem occurs and I step on a pedal button, I hear the click through the amp. Most of the time this doesn't happen and all is well. But...every once in a while it become microphonic.

Any suggestions on how to diagnose this and correct it?

Thanks,

Charley

If for some reason you think this is the fault of the Pedal Power then I suppose you could run the pedals on batteries and see if that changes anything, however since this is seemingly an intermittent problem I'd first suspect a failing cable or possibly a failing true bypass switch.

Can you post a picture of your board?

I see it now.

So when the problem occurs, is it pressing any switch that will make noise or only certain pedals? If its when pressing any switch can you also make noise by just tapping on the pedalboard with something hard?
Does having the Decimator Active/Bypassed affect the noise?

Out of curiosity, what is the signal path there?

When the problem occurs, suddenly all switches are microphonic. Tap on the effect or press the on button and you hear it. Then it goes away. I tried re-seating all connections and wiggling each to see if I could make it happen, but to no avail.

The signal path is:
Polytune
SP Compressor
Fat boost
OCD
Chorus
Decimator
Aqua Puss echo

Charley
