Problem with VL Tremolo

Post by jackofblades »

Hey guys, I'm writing here to see if I can get a faster answer. I already sent Tech Support an e-mail, but I want to cover all the bases, so I'll just go straight to the chase:

I bought a VL Tremolo just a few days ago from Chicago Music Exchange on Amazon. Let's part from the fact that I don't live on the USA (I live in Panama, and I sent the pedal to a friend of mine on the USA while my parents were visiting) so sending the pedal for return on Amazon or to VoodooLab for service is near impossible as it will cost me close to a new VL Tremolo pedal.

Now, on to the issue: I received the pedal yesterday and I tried it out. When engaged, the LED light turns on, the level knob works, but the Speed and Slope knobs won't seem to affect the signal. The Intensity knob when turned clockwise, the volume of the dry signal seems to get lower and when fully turned clockwise, no signal is heard.

Upon closer inspection of the PCB, the capacitor at C11 (I assume it's a cap, I'm not sure as I couldn't find a schematic for the Trem) seems to be missing (I'm attaching a picture of the PCB so you guys can check for yourself) and I believe this could be the issue I'm facing.

Thank you guys for all your help in advance!

C11 is supposed to be missing so that isn't the problem ;)

How are you powering the Tremolo? Have you tested with just a guitar connected directly to its input and the output connected directly to an amplifier?

Yes, I already tried powering it with a 9V battery and my power supply (Walrus Audio Phoenix). Also, I tried using it with just my guitar and my amp, to no avail :(

I understand you are now in contact with Ben so I will let him take it from here...

Unfortunately, I think we will need to have this pedal sent back to us but we will do whatever we can to make this go as smoothly as possible. Sorry for the trouble!
