I'm a dummy

Post by BOOGIO »

So I am waiting for my dingbat with the switcher and I have to get it rocking pretty quickly. What I plan to use is my Wah, Volume pedal
fulltone choral flange, Fuzz face, Ultimate Octave, COT 50, Beano boost, Hall of fame, T rex replica, Klon clone and a vibe pedal, an old Vibe Unit that has an AC wall wart. OY. I want to use the loop on Bogner for the time based FX or possible return to a small amp. I may break out my old Micro Vibe just cause it may be easier. Oh yeah, I also have an old Diaz Texas Tremodillo that sounds awsome that I'l like to use.

You guys know what sounds good and I trust you! :D

I am a dunce regarding signal path but great at taking directions.(just ask my wife) Say hi to Josh!

Thanks, Bruce Berman

Welcome to the forum!

You have more pedals than available loops so I suppose first we'd need to know if any pedals are always on, or if there are any combinations of pedals that you always use together?

The Wah and the Volume will likely stay out of the PX-8 Plus Loops since you have to put your foot on them to use em anyway ;) but can you tell us exactly what wah you have or if you know if it is true bypass or not?

For the signal path you can get that sorted while you wait for the pedalboard and switcher. From Guitar to Amp I'd start here...
Guitar -> Wah -> (in whatever order you prefer, Fuzz Face, COT 50, Ultimate Octave) -> (in whatever order you prefer Klone Clone, Beano Boost) -> Vibe (whichever one you want to use I guess... I'm sure the old one is way cool, but the Microvibe, is also way cool and will actually fit on a pedalboard. ;) ) -> Choral Flange -> Tremodillo -> Front of Amp

I'd run the Hall of Fame and the Replica in the FX Loop.

The Volume Pedal can be patched in in a few places depending on how you use it. For instance, throw it in front of everything and it will act much like the guitar volume knob, or place it just after the FX Send and it will act more like a Master Volume but it will let the reverb and delay decay naturally.

I hope that helps!

Thanks John, I have a BuddahWah, And one of those Wizard (the red ones) Wahs. I could prolly yank the fuzz face and use the fuzz on the ultimate octave when needed. It is a cool modded FF though. I have been so reduced to modeling boxes as union sessions and cartage are in the vapor, so I can tell you what I dig. I love the COT 50 on my Strats & Teles, The Klon is kind of my universal "a little more" box.

I was always a big rack putz with all the pedals (all 3) on a shelf so I have never been a pedal guy really. I am kind of winging it. I have a Bday party on Saturday with a bunch of mugs coming over to play, (Joey B will be here) So I'd like to be semi sexy for the party. I can get more into it after that. As far as what is always on, who knows. I guess I could keep the Klon & COT 50 together but I really don't know.

Screw the beano boost for now I guess. I can always add it later. I have 2 GCX's I could break out in the future. I prolly need a buffer, no?

Thanks for the help. BB

I doubt you need an external buffer, and the PX-8+ has one built in anyway at its output. Also, you'd generally try to keep from putting a buffer in front of anything like a Fuzz Face and both your wahs are true-bypass so pick one (or rock both I suppose) and rock out!

If I had this pile of stuff and a limited amount of time to just get something together I would do the following...

- Guitar -> Wah -> PX-8+ Input
- Loop 1 = Fuzz Face and the COT 50*
- Loop 2 = Ultimate Octave
- Loop 3 = "klone"
- Loop 4 = whichever vibe you choose
- Loop 5 = Choralflange
- Loop 6 = Tremodillo
- Insert Send -> (Beano Boost) -> (Volume Pedal) -> Amp Instrument Input
- Amp FX Send -> (Volume Pedal) -> PX-8+ Insert Return
- Loop 7 = Replica
- Loop 8 = Hall of Fame (these could go either way really, don't be afraid to experiment)
- PX-8+ Output to Amp FX Return

*The Fuzz Face and COT 50 can be activated or bypassed directly to select which one you'll hear when Loop 1 is Active)
(The Beano Boost and Volume Pedal are shown with optional positions)

This should be a pretty rocking setup that would likely even make Joey's now famous "Forbidden Lick" sound good

Let us know how it goes!

...and Happy Birthday to ya!

Hey John,

Is there any kind of, for the lack of a better term, Jack Plate that could mount to my board? What I mean is like female 1/4 in
that could reflect the i/o to and from the amps/loops & "pre" switcher FX? Like I would dig being able to just plug * in without lifting or digging around under the board. Am I trippin?

We are working to make an interface that mounts using the holes at the side edges of the Dingbat boards... sorry it is taking so long to produce a simple box with some jacks in it

Your linked box would certainly work, but you would need to mount it using Dual Lock or something similar since there are no holes that line up with its mounting tabs.
