Engl E530, Peavey 6505+, GCX

Post by rp108 »

Hi,

So I am thinking about running an Engl E530 preamp into my Peavey 6505+ for the power section. How would you recommend using this with the GCX?

Thanks!

Will you be switching between the two preamp sections or will you now just be running the Engl preamp?

Just the Engl preamp for now.

There is no real need to involve the GCX if you will be always using the Engl preamp in this case. Simply connect your guitar to the instrument input of the Engl preamp, then connect its output to the effect return on the 6505+... have you done this already and had some sort of trouble?

How do you feed all the effects post preamp then?

I figured it would be something like this:

Engl -> gcx loop 1
Delay -> gcx loop 2
Reverb -> gcx loop 3 -> out goes to loop return on 6505+

I should mention, I haven't tried the setup yet. Preamp should be here soon.

Simply insert the GCX between the Preamp and Poweramp (post preamp / pre poweramp). Connect the preamp's output to the IN of a GCX loop, then connect the OUT of the last used GCX loop to your poweramp.

Have you looked at any of the connection examples on the GCX product page?

The GCX is extremely versatile, you could even put some loops before the preamp as well.
