... NEED HELP..!!

Post by rockert »

... hi you all...!! i need help what to do...?

i got the VOODOO LAB PREAMP, i got it from long & mcquad in edmonton canada. i am from mazatlan mexico, i work as a musician..
anyways..!! since 1 week ago, when i plugged in my preamp again to start the week, it started to sound like crap,!!, clean channel im getting a dirty sound.. very very bad sounding, like if the speakers were broke or something... i ve tried everithing... it is not the speakers, i tried connecting the preamp power amp and speakers and i realise it was the preamp... i wonder if has something to do with the tubes..!!
.. this sound at the beggining sounds very bad, but then, like 10 mins after, gets better a little bit .. but still sound with out punch, still getting a very bad distortion at the clean channel, and it is not the GAIN obviously, i ve been working as a musician for about 8 years, so, pretty much i understang all about equipment..

please people form voodoo labs, what can i do, do you know what possibly is happening..?
thanks.. i ll be waiting for answers...!!

weell, yeap, it s been more than 30 days, since i got this preamp,
now i know what s going on with it, it s has this 2 buttons, right next to the clean channel knobs, CABINET SIMULATOR buttons. T
hose are very mmm easy to broke ,so, i ll recommend to you, be careful man, this is a great preamp, and those buttons somehow are connected to the guitar signal, so, whatever happends to this buttons will affect to it( i meant, if they get dusty, damaged, lose, etc)...
.. by the way Edmonton was fun.. im lokking forward to move there and find a band.. jaajaa well.. see yaaa i got a lot of friends there...!!

Wow... there is a lot going on here. As with any tube amp, if you seemingly all the sudden have a major difference in the sound always first check the tubes. They quite literally give their lives so we can have the tone we love so much.

Did this ever sound correct or was it distorted and thin sounding from the beginning? What power amp are you connecting this to?

Start off with the Volume knobs way down and turn them up slowly. The Voodoo Lab Guitar Preamp has a fairly hot output and the Clean channel in particular has been known to crush some solid state devices! ;)

It is a little unclear if you have solved this problem but I must say that I have never seen a Guitar Preamp with any of the buttons broken. The two buttons you are referring to control the Cab-Tone simulator built in to the preamp and should only affect the signal if you are using the Direct Outputs.

Let us know what you find!
