Voltage Input?

Post by kenora »

Does anyone know if the GCX audio switcher can handle a 12v power supply?

I know the GCX comes with a 9VAC power supply. Personally, I wouldn't risk using a 12-volt power supply, but I'll defer to John for the definitive answer.
For Sale: Original DMC GCX in Excellent Condition ($275) and a far more versatile SoundSculpture GL also in Excellent Condition ($1750). Free CONUS Shipping.

You can power the GCX from either 9VAC or 12VDC. A 12V supply is fine if it provides DC, you would NOT want to use a 12V AC supply.

This is because AC power is specified as RMS voltage. The actual peak voltage is about 1.4 times the RMS voltage. So, using 9VAC we get 12V from the GCX's internal power supply.
