Control switcher presets via midi solutions ftsw controller?
Control switcher presets via midi solutions ftsw controller?
Is it possible to toggle between 2 presets of the voodoo control switcher with my single button latching footswitch triggering a midi solutions footswitch controller box then into the control switcher via midi so that the control switcher will change multiple latching and momentary devices in my rack with one footswitch button press for preset 1 toggled to 2 and a second footswitch button press to go back to 1? This is assuming the control switcher will remember 1 at startup every time. Thanks
Re: Control switcher presets via midi solutions ftsw control
The MIDI Solutions manual seems to indicate what you want to do (toggle between presets) might not be possible with this unit, but I think you should contact the folks at MIDI Solutions to verify.
Is this something you cannot do with your existing MIDI Controller?

Re: Control switcher presets via midi solutions ftsw control
I also contacted midi solutions but no reply yet. I want to separately control my sequencing / video rack and I know that their footswitch controller will send a program change to my control switcher with a trigger from a mini momentary / latching pedal I already own but I want to toggle between 2 presets. In a worst case scenario I could just toggle once from system A to system B in case of a live malfunction with system A but I need to be able to have the control switcher always be on preset A at startup. Is this possible? I suppose I could get a small size midi mouse, molten voltage or disaster controller to change presets via midi on the control switcher but my pedalboard is over full already so I was hoping to utilize one of my mini switchdoctor switches for this purpose. The mini switches I have are the size of a mooer pedal for reference.
Re: Control switcher presets via midi solutions ftsw control
So if I understand correctly, you want to send On/Off messages from your single button foot switch to the MIDI Solutions box, which you will then program to convert the incoming On/Off messages to MIDI signals. You then want to route those MIDI signals from the MIDI Solutions MIDI Out to the Control Switcher MIDI In and have the Control Switcher toggle between two presets on other MIDI devices in your signal chain. What's got me confused is why you want to use a Control Switcher in the first place, because you can't use any of the jacks on the Control Switcher, or the 5-pin Multi-Connector for that matter, to send MIDI Messages to your other devices because none of them are MIDI compatible.
The Control Switcher takes incoming MIDI info from a MIDI controller and translates that info into the equivalent of On/Off signals like those generated by foot switch buttons, and as I'm sure you're aware, signals of those type do not equate to MIDI Program or Preset change messages. The MIDI Out on the Control Switcher will only echo the information received by the MIDI In jack.
That being the case, unless I have totally misunderstood your intentions, the Control Switcher serves no purpose in your scenario other than being a MIDI Pass Thru device, since it will only be echoing incoming MIDI info. Given that, why use a Control Switcher at all when connecting the MIDI Out from the MIDI Solutions box to the MIDI In of whatever device you would have connected to the Control Switcher will accomplish the exact same thing?
If I am wrong, I trust someone more knowledgeable will jump in and correct me but, unfortunately, I suspect you will have to wait to hear from MIDI Solutions customer support because, as best as I can tell, a Control Switcher will not work for your intended application.

Re: Control switcher presets via midi solutions ftsw control
The control switcher is needed to control my latching and momentary devices in a separate rack.
Re: Control switcher presets via midi solutions ftsw control
I see, and I'm sure it works perfectly in that regard for that's what it was designed to do.
What about bypassing the Control Switcher and connecting the MIDI Solutions box to the next device in line? Would that do the trick?

Re: Control switcher presets via midi solutions ftsw control
No. It has to be momentary and latching. I have a few devices that us both of those types. I need to trigger them from A to B in case of a live malfunction with the A system. The B system is identical but is only used if I need it. Most likely I wont but I hate being un prepared lol. The midi solutions footswitch controller only lets you trigger a midi event with a 1/4 pedal. I think momentary. I may just use a midi mouse to control the voodoo switcher. It is bigger than I like though and I am running out of pedalboard space. I was just hoping to utilize the things I already own plus whatever I need in as compact a way as possible.
