GCP and the Eleven Rack.

Post by hackersdna1 »

Need a little help from the pro's also known as the ones who have already endured the pain to figure it out.

So hooked up the 11R to the GCP. Searched and found another expert who made a midi dump so the 11R mirrors the eleven rack when its factory state. Working with the 4 presets everything is working perfectly. I can scroll through the banks and each preset is perfect. And on each preset it shows on the GCP 1-8 the effects that are on in the 11R. I can turn them on and off perfectly. Heres my problem..

I change a rig in the 11R and save it. I can rename the GCP to match the 11R but i can't change the effects that are on or off so it remembers the changes. It keeps the effects that the original rig had. Example I go from A1rig which has all effects turned off to the A2rig for a different sound then back to A1rig and the original setup effect are back on so I'm dancing really fast to turn them off.

I figured out its because of the original midi dump that it is stored in memory of the GCP. So do i need to do a dump from the 11R to my DAW then dump that to the GCP so it truly mirrors what I've made? If so how? Or I'm open to suggestions. BTW: If you go into the GCP to edit that preset/rig the only thing you can change is the P1 and P2 expression pedals. There is no option that i have found to change 1-8 effects. Thanks!

Im using MidiOX for the dump.

You can't take a SysEx dump from your 11-Rack and load it into your GCPro. It will not work because they are two totally different devices and one will not recognize a SysEx dump from the other. However, there are two threads in the Racks, Switching Systems and MIDI section that might have some useful information for you:

Ground Control Pro +Eleven rack sweetwater patch memory dump

Ground Control Pro + Eleven Rack Expansion Pack

Not being very familiar with the 11-Rack, I am not sure what you mean when you refer to the A1rig and A2rig, unless you are talking about presets. When you change presets on the GCPro, the IA buttons will always default to the On/Off status programmed into the preset selected on the GCPro. In your case, I suspect you are right in that the MIDI dump you loaded into your GCPro is already programmed with, say, the A1rig parameters, so it doesn't matter what changes you make on the 11-Rack, if you don't reconfigure the GCPro preset with the new parameters it will default to the existing parameters.

I suggest you try saving any rig you change as an entirely new rig/preset on your 11-Rack. Once you've done that, call up the new preset on your GCPro, go into Edit mode to configure the IA buttons on or off as desired, and then save that Preset on your GCPro. See Page 16 in your GCPro manual for directions on how to edit and save GCPro presets.

I know about the threads, Thats where i got my setup in the first place. I believe John was the one who posted it.

So when I'm on O1 in my GCP. I want to edit it. I hold the edit button. These are my options in order through edit:

1. What is the GC looking for and on what CC number
2. Options for P1
3. Options for P2
4. What do i want to name it
5. Where do i want to save it.

It does not give me the option of setting my instant access buttons 1-8. This is what I'm trying to figure out.

I got it. I re-read one of Johns post and it worked. I wasn't supposed to actually go into Edit first. Anyways slowing my brain down and reading his directions carefully... And wallah it works. Even though John is not looking at this thread... Thanks John..Again
