The Side Chain connectors are TRS jacks, so you would need to use an Insert Cable to make those connections.

An Insert Cable differs from a Y-Jack Splitter in that a Y-Jack uses TS plugs on all three ends whereas an Insert Cable has a TRS Plug on one end and breaks out to a pair of TS Plugs on the other ends. The TRS plug would go into your compressor's Side Chain jack and, as stated on the back of your compressor directly above the Side Chain jack, the TS plug marked Ring would go into your Delay's In jack and the TS Plug marked Tip would go into your Delay's Out jack.

Thanks for explaining (and being so patient), much appreciated. Though would this method allow the delay pedal to be switched seperately I.e a seperate loop? The reason I ask is because the 2nd channel on the compressor is used for my lead channel, and is dialled in differently, so when I switch to my rhythm b patch (just regular rhythm channel with compressor channel 1 selected with the delay pedal loop active)

Ibanez XPT700 Xiphos

I'm wondering if we might be over-complicating things somewhat. Could you please explain what you currently have connected to your GCX and how you've made the connections so far?

I have the compressor connected to loops 1 and 2 (seperately) via the in/out on the back of the compressor, delay pedal connected to loop 3. The compressor and delay are both currently running through the fx loop of the amp (input of loop 1, output of loop 3) but I want the compressor "in the front" of the amp, before the delay. Delay still in the fx loop. So guitar-amp-compressor-delay. A tuner would be great in there too, but I forget how to connect it for silent tuning

You're saying two different things there, because "guitar-amp-compressor-delay" puts the compressor in the FX Loop and not in front of the amp. Fortunately, since it's a stereo compressor, you can have it in both places. Looking at your signal path, let's first get you silent tuning:

With your guitar signal feeding the Loop 1 In jack, connect the Loop 1 Send jack to the Input jack of your tuner. Do NOT run a cable from the Tuner Out back to the Loop 1 Return. Connect the Loop 1 Out jack to the Loop 2 In jack.

By making these connections, activating Loop 1 sends your guitar signal to the tuner without it passing on to the rest of your gear, resulting in silent tuning.

Here's how to put Channel 1 of your compressor in front of your amp:

Connect the Loop 2 Send jack to the Channel 1 In jack of the compressor. Connect the Channel 1 Output jack to the Loop 2 Return Jack and the Loop 2 Out jack to the Guitar Amp Input.

Loops 3 and 4 are left open, in case you want to add more effects in front of the amp at some future date, or you could use them for switching purposes.

Here's how to make the FX Loop connections:

Connect the Amp's FX Send Jack to the Loop 5 Input jack.
If you want to use Channel 2 of the Compressor in the FX Loop, connect the Loop 5 Send/Return jacks to the Channel 2 In/Out jacks on the compressor. Connect the Loop 5 Out jack to the Loop 6 In jack.

Connect the Loop 6 Send/Return jacks to the Delay's In/Out jacks. Connect the Loop 6 Out jack to the Amp's FX Return jack.

Loops 7 and 8 are open for future use, in case you want to run more effects in the FX loop, or you could also use them for switching purposes.
