Its not that much of a difference and not really that big of a deal. I was just being anal. But....
I think by just going through the GCX and the ISP before the amp input, some how there is a slight gain increase compared to when I just go direct in front of amp. Not sure why this would be but there is some gain. My wife even was able to tell.
but it is very very slight.
I was just assuming that it was some kind of rack rail noise or EMI somewhere in the rack. But everything is isolated from each other and I am using shoulder washers on both sides of rail and there is a space between the GCX and ISP so they are not touching at all. There is also a space above the ISP.

Do you connect in the "Guitar in" (buffered signal)? Have a try in the "Guitar thru".
My sound is very noisy when I connect in the "Guitar in", thus I need to plug my Decimator to cut the noise. But even without a noise gate, I hear a slight sound change, but I haven't detect a gain increase. Next time I'll check.
But if I connect my guitar in the "Guitar thru", then there's no more noise, and the sound is very similar to my amp.

I go guitar in on GCX into Channel of ISP ProRackG > back into loops 1 through 8 into guitar amp.Levenso wrote:Do you connect in the "Guitar in" (buffered signal)? Have a try in the "Guitar thru".

When I was testing I had both ISP channels bypassed, I had the effect loop bypasses on PT100. the issue is in front of the amp.
I tried Guitar > GCX input > ISP > Suhr Buffer > amp
I tried Guitar > feed thru> ISP > Suhr Buffer > amp
I tried Guitar > GCX input > ISP > loop 1-8 > Suhr Buffer > amp
I tried Guitar >Feed thru > ISP > loop 1-8 > Suhr Buffer > amp
I tried Guitar >ISP > Suhr Buffer > amp

I tried Guitar > GCX input >> Suhr Buffer > amp
I tried Guitar > feed through > Suhr Buffer > amp
I tried Guitar > Suhr Buffer > amp***** this is the only one that seems closest to Guitar > amp.
All the other ways boosted gain slightly and added a very very very slight emi to sound. I have completely ruled out the Suhr buffer as the cause.

Re: I just think I have to live with the extra noise
Lets test something...
1. Guitar -> GCX Buffer -> Amp... what happens?
2. Guitar -> GCX Feedthru -> Amp... what happens?
(The above test can be done quite easily, Connect the rear panel Feedthru to the input of the amp, then you only need to swap the front panel connection to try either way. I will say one thing, you will hear a difference between the two that will be more apparent with longer cables.)
Bonus: What does Electromagnetic Interference (EMI) sound like?

60 cycle hz? But I don't think that is the issue. Its a slight gain increaseJohnClark wrote:Lets test something...

Re: I just think I have to live with the extra noise
So now
Guitar > gcx in > amp sound fine and Guitar > GCX guitar in > ISP > loop 1 through 8 > suhr buffer sounds fine. Both now sound the same.
Usually it will be a slight louder white noise from the gain channel on amp when going through all of the buffers versus direct to amp.
Today not so loud was hard for me to notice.
However, all of my pedals are not in the setup, All loops still connected by small patch cables. It seems like when I try to add my 4 stomp boxes in the loops which are bypassed gain is more noticeable.
Its probably something stupid like our air conditioning turning on or something.
But today I would say based on what I just tested this is a non issue with current setup.

Right on! Glad it's starting to all cooperate for you now!
(I'm guessing you were having a cable shielding issue before or perhaps something funny due to the previous setup having had some ground loop issues.)
Hey, with the two Ground Control Pro units... have I sent you the v2 Beta chips? I assume you would like to have the second one be all Instant Access?

I thought about that but not sure. Right now, one controls all of the GCX stuff, Strymon Mobius, and controllers setup as 4x8, the other one controls DTWO, Fireworx and another control switcher I use for tap tempo for DTWO and Fireworx in a 4x8 setup.
This way on the GCX side if I call up a peset with the loop for delay engaged, I don't have to have one set up for each delay sound. I can pre call that up on the other GCP.
Plus both GCPs are phantom powered.
The little black box by the left GCP toggles between 3 expression settings. It actually works lights and all. Made it my self, one of my brain storms.
How much is the new firmware update? Would one GCP connect into the other GCP midi in? Could I still phantom power both of I used one for 10 preset mode and one for 12 IA?
The way I have it setup now I get 16 IA. Plus with a midi merger I can have both GCP's merged to one GCX and than could really get creative(but I would lose the phantom power ability)
I even had a Midi solutions quadra thru hooked up to the GCP that controlled the effects and was still able to have it phantom powered by the one control switcher. One of the Quadra thrus out went to control switcher to dtwo to fireworx. I than had another quadra thru connect to the midi in of the other gcp that just echoed midi through the gcx's to the Mobius. So both GCP's controlled the Mobius.
