My midi signal path is this GCP-GCX-Rocktron Intellifex-Strymon Timeline - Line6 M5. All operating on seperate Midi channels. What I was hoping to do is to connect my Disaster Area Designs 3XL to the Midi in jack of the GCP in order to control the Strymon Looper using midi ch1.
However the midi in of the GCP does not seem to pass the midi signal from the midi in on the GCP to the midi out of the GCP.
Is what I am tying to do possible or could I have something set up wrong? My GCP runs ver 1.02
The 3XL works perfectly when connected directly to the Strymon.
Ground Control Pro Midi In Question
Re: Ground Control Pro Midi In Question
This should be possible.
Is the 3XL set up to the same Midi Channel as the Timeline?
In my Rig, I have a self built Midi Controller to control the Timeline Looper.
My Midi Chain is:
DIY Controller -> GCP -> Voodoo Lab Control Switcher -> Strymon Mobius -> Strymon Timeline.
GCP is switching Presets on Timeline and Mobius and IAs for the Control Switcher.
My Controller controls the Looper of the Timeline.
No problem at all...

Re: Ground Control Pro Midi In Question
Thanks for the reply. Yes set to midi channel 1. When I unplug the the cable from the GCP out and plug it into the 3XL out all works perfectly. Just not getting from GCP in to GCP out.
May I ask what version firmware you are running in your GCP?
I found this from John Clarke on the forum about firmware upgrade from 1.02 to 2.0:

Changes would mainly be that we added the following...
-MIDI Messages on the MIDI In are mirrored to the MIDI Out. (this excludes MIDI Clock)
-New Link Modes were added for using two Ground Control Pro units together. This is mainly used to have two different stage positions or two different people controlling the same rig.
-New Special Setups were added for Cyber Twin and G-Force. (Sort-of dates the last major update, huh )
I think that was most of it. Not really a significant user experience change from v1.02.

Re: Ground Control Pro Midi In Question
Your Ground Control Pro needs to be v 1.10 or higher in order to allow Program Changes and Control Changes to be passed from the MIDI In to the MIDI Out.
Feel free to give us a call or write to info@voodoolab.com for current pricing and availability of the update chip.

Re: Ground Control Pro Midi In Question
Hi John,
I recently received the 1.13 firmware upgrade and can now pass midi from the midi in to the midi out which is what I wanted. However, now when I'm on a preset and I turn on a few IA loops then step on that same preset to go back to the original preset settings the display shows 0-. INIT.
It also sends midi program change 71 to all midi devices connected
When I step on that preset again all returns to the original preset setting and sends the proper program changes to each midi device.
What can be done?

Re: Ground Control Pro Midi In Question
It looks like you've enabled the Global Preset within Setup Mode. This is a single preset available within any bank by pressing the button for the current preset a second time. It is programmable just like any other preset by pressing and holding the Edit button while the Global Preset is loaded.
Turning this feature on or off is found in Setup Mode under Utility. Press Bank Down until the screen reads "GBL PGM" then use the Yes or No button to turn it on or off.
I hope that helps!
