Hi everyone,I would like some opinions on wet dry vs stereo rigs and how to wire it.Firstly I am just a bedroom guitarist that probably only plays about 3 or 4 gigs per year. Here is a list of my gear.
Line 6 G90 wireless
TC Electronics D-Two Delay
BBE 482i Maximizer
G Major 2
Eventide Pitchfactor
Eventide Modfactor
Eventide Timefactor
Eventide Space
GCX and GCP
Mesa Boogie Triaxis
Mesa 2:90 Power Amp
2 Mesa 2x12 cabinets
I currently have it wired mono as I am waiting on the second cabinet to come in the mail.I would like the Triaxis,Gmaj2 and BBE to constantly be on. I guess ideally what I am asking for is a stereo setup and then someone to say now just remove "these" wires and you are now wet/dry if that makes sense.Any help is appreciated. Thanks!!
Stereo vs Wet Dry Rig and help wiring it up.
Re: Stereo vs Wet Dry Rig and help wiring it up.
It isn't going to be as easy as just pulling some cables to go between a true stereo setup vs a wet/dry setup, Level and Mix settings will have to change on various pieces too.
I'd suggest trying out simplified variations once you have the second cabinet to decide which way you might want to go before designing the entire rig.
Personally, with what you've listed so far, I'd set it all up as stereo rather than in a two cab wet/dry rig. The wet/dry setup that really shines (and makes us bedroom/livingroom players swoon ) is when you have three cabinets with the dry in the middle between a set of wet cabs in stereo. For the most part, you would only likely run your D-Two, TimeLine, and probably the Space into the wet cabs.
I hope that helps!

Re: Stereo vs Wet Dry Rig and help wiring it up.
Thanks John,I'll set it up for stereo and then down the road go with a w/d/w setup .Another question is can I run all of the listed effects in stereo with one GCX or would I need two?
Re: Stereo vs Wet Dry Rig and help wiring it up.
A standard GCX can control up to four full stereo devices (stereo ins and stereo outs) by using two GCX Loops per device.
There is a Stereo Mod for the GCX that will turn four of the loops into full stereo using TRS jacks. with two of these Stereo boards you can turn all eight loops stereo.
Since this is starting off as a temporary setup and you are really looking at switching only five of the devices you currently have, I'd probably just use the internal bypass one one (or also have the D-Two "on" at all times) so you don't have to get a second GCX or mod the one you have.
