I've done a bit of searching on this and the fractal boards and have found several threads dealing with the GCP and Axe-FX II. A fair amount relating to scene changing.
IMHO, The GCP would be an amazing fit for the Axe-FX if it had a CC + PC feature relating to the Instant Access buttons for scene changing.
My question is, could the firmware updated to solve the issue? It could be either add CC+PC (preferable) or CC+VCA level to the IA buttons. VCA being a workaround I've seen being used for the 10 preset mode. The latter does work, but requires sending the VCA on a separate channel and forcing the Axe-FX to listen in omni mode which could make it a little less flexible when other MIDI equipment is involved.
Even if a new chip is needed, I think the the GCP would be an awesome alternative to the much more expensive MFC. Scene switching (again IMHO) is far superior to stomp boxing (tap dancing). I'm sure this combination can't be the only one that would benefit from and update such as this.
Seems like a blissful match in the waiting.
