sooooooo me again!!
happy 2015 everyone (yeah, kinda late but still...)
so, I've been trying out many ways and methods but somehow I can't really make sense of how my rig could function the way I really want it to. So far I have been controlling both Herberts in sync, so I actually tell Herbie 1 to go to channel 1 and it tells Herbie 2 to do the same thing via a quad-thru box. Also, the Timeline is connected to this box. But things are not working out very much. I do have this feeling that I got something fundamentally wrong the way I set it up.
I need to give each device an own "channel", right? How do I then make sure that each device does ONLY listen to this channel? If I change a setting on one of the Herberts then the other Herbert AND the Timeline also change settings - but it seems to be pretty random to me. Simply said, whenever I change something on one of the three devices, weird things happen on the other two...
Can anyone help me out here? I read and re-read the manuals but somehow I can't solve my problem...
The setting I now aim for is much simpler than originally thought. I only work with the two Herberts (in exact sync, so they need to do the same things at the same time) and the Timeline. And I'd like to save presets for each song with different delays and delay-tempi (bpm). I know this is possible, but I struggle. A lot.
Thanks for your precious time...!!
Cheers and all
EDIT: Got it!! Finally.....! Everything's working the way I want it to. Thanks for your support!

Re: 2 Herberts, 2 Cabs, 1 Timeline
Soooo, my rig is now basically complete and it looks a bit different now, though. It's all really great and basically quite simple. Works like this:
Guitar (via Sennheiser wireless) goes into the GCX Audio Switcher, where the signal splits into both amps.
- Diezel Herbert 1 (Left) --> this one is connected to the Korg Tuner via "Tuner out"
- Diezel Herbert 2 (Right)
All FX are patched through the GCX and work as follows:
- Fulltone OCD for Diezel 1
- Bogner Burnley for Diezel 2
- Strymon Timeline (stereo, switchable loop)
- Strymon Big Sky (stereo, switchable loop)
This means that the Strymons both go through the switchable loops of both Diezels, thus stereo, and are therefore "switchable". I can just activate or deactivate the loops to control them.
The whole midi stuff runs through a "midisolutions quadra thru" to send the midi-signal to all devices simultaneously, without going through all the "thrus" of every single chain-element first. HOWEVER I do have some troubles here: Sometimes, when I hit a preset on the ground control, only one amp switches to the setting and the other one stays on the one before and only changes when I hit it a second time. Does anyone know that problem? It's annoying as h*ll. Maybe the quadra thru just isn't good enough? It does feel somewhat cheap, but yeah... Any recommendations here?

Re: 2 Herberts, 2 Cabs, 1 Timeline
If I understand correctly, one of your amps sometimes does not switch to the desired preset upon the first press of the GCPro button, but needs a second press of the same button before it changes.
Are your amps on different MIDI channels? If so, you could try putting them both on the same channel to see if it makes a difference. If not, try putting them on different channels. Also, if the Quadra Thru is feeding MIDI signals to both amps, try connecting the MIDI Out of the first Herbert to the MIDI In of the second with both on the same channel.
I'm just spit balling here, `cuz you've probably already tried what I've suggested, but intermittent problems such as your experiencing usually trace back to bad cables.

Re: 2 Herberts, 2 Cabs, 1 Timeline
that's exactly what happens, yes. sometimes only one amp switches to the desired preset und the second one only reacts when I hit the button a second time.
They are on different midi-channels, because they shouldn't always stay on the same channels... Well, I will check the cables! Thanks for this, I'll report soon.

Re: 2 Herberts, 2 Cabs, 1 Timeline
If you haven't already, you might want to try setting the MIDI Channel manually on each amp rather than having them attempt to learn their separate MIDI Channels. This is shown in the Herbert manual under the "Single Channel Mode - Manual Channel Selection" in the MIDI section.
Let us know if that helps!

Re: 2 Herberts, 2 Cabs, 1 Timeline
Thanks for this! However, I did set the Herberts manually... We had a gig last Sunday and even though it happened twice during rehearsals it all worked just fine in the evening. Still, I'd like to know for sure haha. I'll keep on trying and will report later. Thanks!
