Trouble connecting Ground Control to GCX Switcher

Post by BenediktE »

I have a old Ground Control from DMC and I'm trying to connect to my GCX Switcher but it seems to me that the switcher isn't sending power to the Ground Control.

One thing I noticed about the Ground Control is that it seems to have a 7 pin midi, unlike the GCX Switcher which has a 5 pin.

How do I connect those two together ? (use 5 pin to 7 pin midi cable? will it work?)

Hope you guys can help me.

I used a 5 pin midi cable and it did not work, it seems like the Ground Control isn't getting any power from the GCX Switcher.

have you put the cable in the midi-out connector?

yeah, that's at your gcx, but in the ground control the midicable has to be plugged into the midi out, not the in

The old Ground Control only has a "Midi Out".

You should be using a standard MIDI cable with 5 pins on each end. Make sure the MIDI cable has all 5 pins wired. They are often labeled as "5 pin active". Some cable makers only wire the 3 pins required for MIDI operation to keep the cost down.
