I have a Mission passive volume pedal plugged into my GCP P1 jack. I have P1 "ON" in the Pedal menu. In my presets, I have P1 set up to send control 007 through MIDI channel 1 which is my JVM410 head to control the volume on my amp. I can see the numbers increase and decrease on the GCP as i sweep my pedal, but it isn't affecting volume on the amp. I am using a stereo cable as well.
I also ran through each control number in the GCP thinking that possibly my amp isn't using control 007....but still nothing.
Is there any other set up needed in GCP set up menus, I looked, but doesn't seem to be.
Also, how can i send control 7 to 2 MIDI devices (amp and Effects rack) as it seems I can only set up one device in my presets (4 preset/bank mode) to control volume?
Can anyone give advice?

Hi mate,
is your JVM410 definately set to respond to Midi Channel 1? If not, then it's not receiving the messages you're sending it from your pedal.
As for sending a CC7 message to two different devices at the same time, I'm not too sure whether or not the GCPro will allow you to do this, but here's how i'd go about it..
Enable all of your devices in the device locations.
If you have 5 devices, give the 6th device location a name you'll remember, and set it to the "OMNI" channel (for this type of thing, i'd say just name it "CC7" or similar) Now, any messages that appear at this device location are sent to all of the midi channels.
If you set the Exp pedal to send a CC7 message from that device location (in this example, location six) all of your equipment will receive it, so make sure that only the two devices you want to react to CC7 are set up to receive it, otherwise your other devices could start making unwanted changes too..!
Also, this is all just theory.. I'm not sure if this'll work. It depends on whether you can even set up an unused device location to operate on the OMNI channel to start with.. i'm actually interested to see if this works - let me know how you go and good luck with it dude!!

Re: Passive Vol/Exp pedal problem...
Hi Dawsey....yes my JVM410 is set to channel 1 as I am switching amp channels from my GCP. Before I wrote this post I was able to also see the numbers increase and decrease on my G-Major 2 display as I was sweeping my pedal, but I haven't set the G-Major 2 up yet for this, so I know that the the GCP is sending the data over the channels, but for my amp, I noticed that the midi light isn't coming on when I sweep my pedal. I guess I'll have to go over the parameter set ups again on the GCP for my amp.....
Re: Passive Vol/Exp pedal problem...
If I can't get this figured out with my amp, I guess I will have to control the volume on my G-Major 2 instead, let's see if I can get that to work.......,
Also your idea of creating a new device for global volume control over all of the devices with "Omni" set up as a MIDI channel sounds like an interesting idea....might have to give this a try once I get my pedal to work....

Hey dude,
i tried looking online for the JVM manual but the only documents i found had nothing about the midi stuff except to say that it is a feature on the amp (helpful hey!)
if you have the manual as a pdf or something can you email it to me dawes1986@gmail.com
how are you finding it's tone man, good amp? it seems to be mostly reviewed by metal players, what sorta stuff are you subjecting it to?
peace,
Dawesy.

Re: Passive Vol/Exp pedal problem...
Ya the manual doesn't have much in it for the midi, I'll have to contact Marshall I guess. I love this amp it is great. You can pretty much dial in any tone you want out of this thing. It has 4 channels, and each channel has 3 modes to it, so essentially I have like 12 channels. It is a machine for gain if you need it. You can do quite abit with the midi on it as well...
I am into the Modern Rock/Heavy Rock and some metal as well. We do stuff like Tool, Godsmack, Drowning Pool, System of a Down, Disturbed, Seether, Incubus, Alice in Chains, just to give you an idea. So this amp works well for me...very versatile in tones.

Re: Passive Vol/Exp pedal problem...
i can't find anything that says the volume itself is Midi controllable, only channels. the volume control on the G-Major will do the job though if its running in a parrallel fx loop.
sounds like a hell of an amp from what i've read..
lately i've been considering getting another amp, something with more sounds in it, a marshall or boogie maybe?
i want to have a great sounding amp that has a bunch of storable settings, so i can just set up a basic shred sound, a basic rock sound, basic blues, grunge, country, jazz sounds etc, but i don't want to use some amp modelling multi fx unit -- those things are rubbish!!
with what you were saying about it having 4 channels, and 3 modes per channel, so twelve modes, is that as in, you can have twelve completely different sounds stored in the amp and just switch them in or out with the Midi control ?
or is it like, there's four basic sounds you've set up, and then two solo boosts or something for each one?
sorry for the billion questions lol what you said has got me thinking though!
cheers dude, good luck with the midi stuff

Re: Passive Vol/Exp pedal problem...
With the JVM, when calling up a channel, the MIDI remembers, Master Vol 1 and 2, channel controls (vol, bass, mid, treb, gain), Reverb and FX loop. You can also call up the same mode with different settings (like reverb on/off, fx on/off, channel vol, Master vol, etc.) with numerous CC's.
I am just not sure if I can control only the master volume with a CC. I sent Marshall an e-mail earlier. Wait and see what they say.
If not, I will just controll the Global Out or In Vol on the G-Major 2. I have the G-Major2 in a series loop....it should still work like this cause my GM2 tuner actually mutes my amp as well.

Re: Passive Vol/Exp pedal problem...
Yes that is right dawesy1986....12 different sounds, and actually more, like I was saying you can call up the same mode with diff setting, like less gain or more vol, ect, but with different CCssoreally you could have 128 different channel configurations.
