Hello,
I have been spending quite some time the last couple of days trying to set up my new rig. I recently acquired the GCX and the Ground Control Pro to enable me to control my gear using only 1 unit/controller. However, I now find my self in the deep waters and I am sure how to proceed with the setup. I have attached two pictures: one of my gear/setup, and one of the connections of the HX Effects and my AMP.
Challenges:
1. I want to run some of my pedals (1-4) in front of my AMP, while also running pedals (5-7) in the FX LOOP of the AMP. The challenging part is that I also want to use my Line6 HX Effects together with my pedals in different combinations/presets. Thus, I should probably use the HX Effects` SIGNAL-CHAIN-FLOW function to select which units goes where in the AMP (e.g. 4-cable-method). Of course I also need to connect the HX Effects to the Ground Control Pro using MIDI in order to control it properly (Figure 2: MIDI IN). But I don`t think I can connect the GCX to the unit using MIDI THRU since I then won`t be able to use the AMP FX loop+Front connections (only 1 of each).
2. In addition I want to select my AMP channel both directly (aka stomp) and also have it as part of a preset. The HX Effects has functionality that enables this (Figure 2: PEDAL/EXT AMP), but I am not sure how to control this using Ground Control Pro/GCX.
Hope someone can help me find a solution to these challenges. Would be very much appreciated. Thanks!

Re: Using Line 6 HX Effects and pedals w/GCX+Ground Conrol Pro
Hi there,
I’d do the following with your setup:
Guitar into the front -> Guitar out -> loop1 in -> loop 1 out -> loop 2 in -> loop 2 out etc. Do this to loop 4 out -> HX FX in -> HX FX SND -> Amp in -> Amp SND -> loop 5 in -> loop 5 out etc -> loop 7 out -> Amp RTN -> Amp Spkr out -> cab
I’d use the SND or OUT of loop 8 to switch your amp.
You will be able to create a preset with no effects selected in the HX FX and use the outboard FX.
Hope this helps you a bit, any more questions, ask away.
Cheers
