Controlling GCX & TC Electronics GMajor with GCP

Hi Guys and Gals.
I'm brand new to midi and rack switching.

I just got a Ground Control Pro and GCX.

I'm sure it mentions it in the manual but I'm not 100% sure.

Here is the plan I want to implement.

Buttons 1 - 6 on GCP activate loops on the GCX
Buttons 7 - 0 & the other two "Preset" buttons to switch to a specific patch dedicated to each button on the TC Electronics GMajor

How'd I go about it?

Hi Guys,

Further to my above question. I have decided to go with the 4 Presets and 8 IA buttons

Here's another stupid question...

Can you assign a IA to change a patch on the TC Electronics GMajor and when you press the assigned IA button it turn that effect on or off?

So each preset will change the patch(Program Change I believe) on the TC and then I can turn it on/ off using the assigned IA button as it will be run through the GCX

*Update*
I have configured the GCP with the presets and the IA buttons working. Just need to figure out how to assign a patch change via midi to the TC Electronics for each preset.
Any ideas?

Have you setup your Ground Control Pro with the G Major 2? Connect the GCX MIDI OUT to G Major 2 MIDI IN with a MIDI cable.

On the Ground Control Pro, press both SETUP buttons, press 2 for DEVICE NAME/CHANNEL and add the G Major 2 with the MIDI Channel you want to use. Exit the setup mode.

Then on the G Major 2 tap MIDI to go into the MIDI menu. Make sure it’s set to the same MIDI channel as in the Ground Control Pro. Turn on MIDI Program Change. In Program Bank choose User or Factory.

On the Ground Control Pro, select the Preset you want to edit. Hold Edit. Press the Up/Down until you are on the G Major 2 (you named it and set the channel above), then either use the numbers to type the program number or +/- to get to the program change you want. Exit and save. It should be working now....

For instant access, all you can do is use CC Numbers to turn effects blocks on/off, you can’t choose a program change. I’d you get the above working and need the IA, we can work through that.

Hi there,
Have you added the G Major as a device with its own midi channel number?

If so, press the preset button you would like to use, hold down the edit button(top right) until it changes to the first device added to the GC Pro followed by a number. This number is the preset for that device. Use the + & - buttons to toggle up or down the devices. Once you have the device you wish to change the preset number on, use the < & > buttons to move sideways, then use the + & - buttons to move preset number up or down.

To have effects blocks active on a preset in the G Major, have them active and saved in the preset in the G Major.
