Advice Setting up GCX, GCP, Kahayan Amp Switcher, Marshall JVM

Post by sutrero »

Hi,

I'm trying to figure out how to program my Ground Control Pro control my GCX, the Kahayan Amp Switcher, and my Marshall JVM410h.

As a bonus, I'd love to control the patches on my Eventide H9 and Pitchfactor (through midi) as well, but it's more important to get the amp and channel switching working first.

I can get the GCP to talk to all of these, but I'm not sure how to get them to be all changed at the same time. I'd like to have a setting(s) where it tells the GCX to turn on the loops I want engaged, switch to the amp/cab I want, and (if amp I'm switching to is the JVM) tell the JVM to switch to the setting I want (i.e. OD1 orange, with reverb on)

The setup:

GCX:
Loop1 : Decimator
Loop2 : H9
Loop3 : PitchFactor

Midi path:
Ground Control out to GCX in
GCX out to Kahayan amp switcher midi in
Kahayan midi thru to JVM midi in

I believe I have everything connected correctly. Please let me know if you think I've got this part wrong!

So for preset 1 I want:
GCX Loop1 on (the rest off)
Amp switcher on amp 1/speaker 2 (midi channel 1, program change 16)
JVM OD1 Orange (reverb off, fx loop off, volume 1)

I can get the Ground Control to do each of these things individually, but I can't figure out how to program it to do all this with one button.

Is there a way to have GCP send changes to 3 different devices at the same time with one button?

One catch is that unless I want to open up and make changes to the amp switcher, it can only be on midi channel one. Could this be my issue?

Any help would be most greatly appreciated!!!

Hi there,
You should be able to do what you want with controlling everything.

First off, you have to add the devices to the GCPro and assign midi channels to each.

Your Amp switcher is on channel 1 but can be changed by taking the cover off etc but I’d keep it on channel 1.
Most Midi gear is default on channel 1 so you’ll need to change the JVM, the Pitchfactor and The H9. The GCX doesn’t matter, the GCPro and the GCX will just work when you add it in the Expanders.

Once you’ve done this, then its a matter of creating presets.

See how you go with this and get back to us if you need more help.
GCPro, GCX, Pedal Power 2+, Pedal Power AC.
And some other stuff.
