Stereo

Post by AttitudeEra »

Hey - I’ve done a search and not come up with an answer, please help 😊.

I know there are stereo mods which can be done, but putting that to one side, imagine I have a standard GCX with 2 unused loops, and 1 stereo delay pedal with stereo in/stereo out, and a stereo signal coming from a cab sim.

How would I hook this up using the two empty loops to send the stereo signal from the cab sim into the delay pedal in stereo and out again to a PA/active monitors in stereo?

Thanks!

Hi there, i can help you out but it would be better if you tell us what else you have in your rig? Where is the signal coming from and where is it going to? Do you have a power amp or amp that it goes to as well or is it just a PA/monitor setup? Can you go to the delay pedal first before the cab sim? Is the cab sim your stereo split? What are these bits of gear?
Some more info and we might be able to help you more.

From the info you have given, I’d say go from the cab sim L out, to the in on loop 7 (could be any loops), from cab sim R out, to the in on loop 8, loop 7 send to in on delay L, loop 8 send to in on delay R, delay out L to loop 7 return, delay out R to Loop 8 return, loop 7 out to L speaker, loop 8 out to R speaker.

Thanks! That actually makes sense and will probably work by the sounds of it.

The setup right now is slightly different but I recently toyed around with some of the effects in stereo after the cab sim instead of in the amp loop and they sound 100x better after the cab sim vs in the parallel FX loop.

Current setup is:

On the ground - Ground Control Pro - wireless receiver -> tuner -> whammy dt -> wah -> phase 90 -> GCX

GCX loops:
Tubescreamer (into front of Dual Rectifier)
EQ pedal (FX loop)
Chorus (FX loop)
Memory Man Dekay (FX loop)
Flashback x4 Delay (FX loop)
Amp Channel 1
Amp Channel 3 (access channel 2 by selecting neither loop)
Solo/Boost on amp

Amp speaker out to Captor X cab sim
Cab sim stereo out to Boss RC 5 loop
RC5 stereo out to monitors

Ideally I’d like to move at least one of the delays to the spot between the Captor and the Loop pedal. It’s actually incredible how much better the loop pedal sounds after the cab sim instead of in the amp’s loop!

Hi there,
Are you going to keep the Recto in your system for switching it to? If so, you need a Control Switcher and a custom cable to do it for you. I have the Dual Rectifier Multi watt and use an RJM Mini Amp Gizmo and their cable for it, works sweet.

You could do that and possibly get 4 of the loops changed to stereo on your GCX and you’d free up a couple more loops for more effects.

Nice setup by the way.
