midi probs...

Post by krikke »

I'm having serious probs with assigning an expression pedal on the G Major 2.
The situation is Ernie Ball Jr pedal (expression) connected on a Voodoo lab GCP to GCX with midi through to G major 2.
On the GCP the pedal is activated (P1.127 CTL000) on preset 1
On the GCX I can see the led blinking when moving the pedal.
On the G Major I go in the "MOD" tab, choose "M1" "learn", and when moving the pedal the G Major 2 "learns" to recognize the pedal.
In the mod menu it is possible to choose the paramater that has to be changed with the expression pedal, for instance "delay mix"...
The setup went fine for User preset 1.
When trying to do the same for preset 2, the problem is that when I bring the "MOD1" in "leaning mode" the preset number changes when moving the pedal...
I tried a few hours to find out why there is no problem on preset 1... but without results...
Why are the presets of the G Major 2 changing when moving the expression pedal???
Is there anybody who can help me out?
Thanks in advance! :-)

First off, what is P1 set to do on Ground Control Pro preset 02? The Expression Pedals are programmed per Ground Control Pro preset.
Second, If you already assigned MOD 1 to learn Controller #000 then you do not need to have the G-Major 2 re-learn the controller for MOD 1 just because you are now on a different G-Major 2 patch.
I hope that helps!

Ok, I understand that he has to learn it only once... :-)

I also understand I have to activate the pedal on each GCP preset, but it is not very clear what to set for P1.001. CTL000 to tell the pedal what to edit...
P1 = pedal 1
001= midi channel 1 There is only 1 processor, so all midi can go on channel 1I think.
CTL000= ???
possibilities are:
no output: "OFF"
pitchbend: "PITCHB"
aftertouch: "AFTERT"
continious controllers 000 to 120: "CTL000"
Are these setting, and especially the "CTL000" important for the G Major 2?
Do I have to use another CTL number for eacht preset?
The G Major 2 can "learn" wich parameter he has to assign to the pedal?
For the expression pedal, wich one to use? There is no really explanation about the difference of "PITCHB" "AFTERT"or "CTL000"

Strange is that when changing for instance from preset 1 to preset 2 (on the G Major 2 and of course the GCP) with the GCP everything goes well. Only, the first time you move the expression pedal the preset number changes again, like the expression pedal is assigned for changing the presets. When the pedal has moved to 1 extreme position it does nothing anymore, and there is no "midi in" blinking on the G Major anymore.

Oh midi god, help me please :-)

Found it! :D
In the GCP you have to set the pedal to"CTL000" AND push the cursor to the right (>) and choose the G Major...
I already wondered what "P1 -> " could have been... until I accidentally hit the DATA NO button of the GCP... :o
No more problems...
I must admit that I'm not a bright light in Midi science, but a clear example in the manual could have helped me a lot...
Thanks for the help!
