Hello,
I'm probably going to buy a GCX switcher in the next 24hrs. I am hoping that a few seasoned veterns can answer some simple questions I have. I have two preamps I will be using. One stereo power amp with a left and right return with a left and right output jack (each return has it's own output) that each feed a marshall 1965b cab. I will be using one rack unit which is an ADA TFX4 (mono in stereo out) , chorus pedal (mono in stereo out) carbon copy (mono in mono out) Chorus pedal ,Keeley two knob comp (mono in mono out) tube screamer (mono in mono out) Thinking of picking a another overdrive (mono in mono out) and planning on a stereo phaser.
my question is :
Can the gcx run the mono preamp and effects out stereo without having to be chained through the ADA or the stereo out effects?
I'm thinking I may just keep a very simple pedal board with my wah, comp, and two overdrive pedals since they are all true bypass and they'll only be four units. Of course I will purchase a midi controller as well. I do like my modulation and will probably grab another one or two pedals. This would leave the ada , mod pedals, delay and preamps through the loops.
Can I make this stereo out with the gcx? I'm thinking I may have to use a Y cable somewhere at some point and I'm nervous about my tone degrading.
I have only used pedals on the floor and chained through the loop. After 25 years I've grown sick of selling and buying pedals (I think) and just want a small footprint on the ground and I like the idea of the switcher and it's benefits. Any guidance would be very appreciated.
Edit: Just noticed the thread below on the stereo mod. Wil I have to do this in order to achieve the above?
GCX general Question before purchase
Re: GCX general Question before purchase
You don't need to do the stereo mod to use stereo effects but you will need to use more loops and you can't switch both sides in and out with one Instant Access button.rhynobyte wrote:Hello,

Using a Y cable won't be a problem if you use the front panel buffered input.
I would probably go mono in to the ADA and then stereo out into two loops on the GCX.

Thanks for the replies octonic.
Just got the switcher (standard) so the fun begins. i will be going in through the buffered input.
