PC based editor for the GCP?

Post by Kracked »

I'm using GCPro Edit right now, but it lacks in being to program the Exp pedals. Maybe I have an old version? It's a real pain after you push the programming over which takes 10 seconds, and then take the next 20 minutes stepping one by one through every patch assignment and redo the CC and output for the Exp pedals...

Unfortunately, there is no other version of that editor that I know of. Perhaps the creator of that program can offer better help on that front than I can. I guess I never noticed that it lacks any settings for the expression pedals other than to enable or disable them within Setup Mode. Are your expression pedal needs different between presets or will they always send on a single Control Change number per pedal?

Thanks John. Actually, the pedals shoot the same CC's on the same channel for all patches - i.e. the pedals control the same two elements for every patch being Wah and Volume. Can you set those as "global" settings rather than having to select each patch, go into edit, and then assign? The individual part is killing me since I have to go back and set both pedals for each of my 36 primary patches after a sysex download to the GCP.

If you first enable the Expression Pedals within setup mode, they will automatically assign every preset that has not previously been saved to set P1 to Control Change 007 and P2 to Control Change 016, with both pedals set to target the first device named within the Ground Control Pro. Any preset that has been saved before enabling the Expression Pedals will set the pedals to Off for that preset. Any difference from this initial setup will need to be re-programmed on each preset.

For your particular setup, you may be able to use the default expression pedal setup if your target device allows you to re-assign what Control Change numbers it responds to for a given parameter.

Thanks - I'm using the GCP with AxeFX which I can change all the CC's without issue. However, it sounds like since the presets are all saved first and xmitted as a sysex, I'll never be in a position where I can enable the FC's first seeing as the sysex dump overwrites all of the FC params at the same time it drops the presets. I guess I'll always be up against this behavior as long as I'm using that editor.

Too bad you guys don't have an editor that fixes some of the shortfalls of this freeware version
