Ground Control, GCX Switcher, G-Major and Dual Rec Roadster

Post by Alystr »

Hello All..

I am new to all this switcheroo effects and all.. Been playing guitar for 25 years and decided that it is time to start learning some in depth patching.. It seems like the master JOHN has all you folks covered here.. So here goes, I am wodering if anyone can help me wire my setup?

Mesa Boogie Roadster
TC Electronic G-Major
Ground Control Pro
GCX Switcher

Bear with me as I am an old noob:) First off I would like to switch channels on my Boogie with the GCP.. Then if anyone would like to teach me how I can assign my G-Mjor presets to channels I'll give you a big bear hug.. Thanks in advance and KEEP ROCKIN

The initial setup for this would be to run only the Out of each GCX Loop to the External Switch jacks on the amplifier. Because one of the External Switch jacks controls the effects loop bypass, you can route the G-Major directly to the amplifier. Straight out of the box the Ground Control Pro will recall patches on the G-Major. You will need to enable the GCX within the Ground Control Pro and then you will be able to program your Ground Control Pro presets to control the G-Major and the amplifier to do whatever you want. I hope this helps!

Thanks John, I got the Gmajor working with the GCP but I can't change any channels on the rectifier with GCP. Do I need to activate something on the GCP? I was wodering why the names of the GMajor Patches don't show up on the GCP? Says something like init 1, 2,3 etc. I know, im a rookie lol..

Activating GCX Loops will control the amplifier. Check the Controlling the GCX Guitar Audio Switcher section of the Ground Control Pro manual under Edit Preset for instructions on how to add the state of GCX Loops to your presets.
Also in the Edit Preset section is the instructions for Naming Presets. These do not automatically fill in with the patch name of your processor. Let us know if you run into any trouble.

Hi John, I just wanted to say thanks for the help on the phone today, I greatly appreciate it and now I almost have my dream setup:) I'm hoping I can use an expression pedal (Ernie Ball JR) to control the whammy effect on the GMajor.. If anyone has any idea how the built in whammy on the GMajor is and can it be controlled by a pedal? Thanks again.. You Rock like Dokken..
