VCA in GCPRO

Post by parksy100 »

Hi

I'm a relative newcomer to midi and have just bought a new GCPro. I'm trying to get the pro to control volume levels for each patch. I've read the manual and done what I think I need to do, which is to set up VCA via the expanders in setup. I have changed a patch or two to 99 on the sliding scale but experience no volume increase - have I got this wrong somehow??

My set up is Hafler Triple Giant preamp into TC G Force into Mesa 20/20 into stereo cab. At the moment I'm set up in serial but plan to experiment with using the effects loop to try and preserve tone......I could do the volume changes using the G FOrce but I do wonder whether using the effects loop approach removes this functionality as the main dry signal (which I want to change the level of) will go straight from the preamp to the power amp....I did say I was new to this!

any help appreciated

The VCA was originally intended for controlling our System Mix Plus, but you can use it for preset level control on other gear if the gear being controlled is programmable. It will send Controller #007 on MIDI Channel 16 and the selectable 0-99 in the Ground Control Pro presets scales to data values 0-127.
