buzzing when using pedal board with gcx

Post by Jeff Snipes »

Hello,

I am hoping you guys can help me fix an issue I am having. I have been running a GCX/Ground control set up now for about 3 months with wonderful results. A few days ago I added a few additional pedals (two to be specific) and now I amd experiencing a humming buzz noise. Its not a small one its the souns of a guitar chord plugged into and amp and the other end laying against something making a BZZZZZZ sound.

The interesting part is that if I plug directly into the GCX run through it (and all programmed loops) into the amp the sound is fine, clean and quiet. When I plug my pedal board into the GCX (guitar in input each time) is when the problem starts. My initial instinct was that it was a problem in the pedalboard so I isolated it and only plugged into the pedal board and from that into the amp and it was dead quiet. Its when I go from the pedal board to the GCX that I pick up the Buzz. So I am hoping that you can help me figure it out.

Here is the signal flow for review:

guitar--->Planet waves tuner--->MXR F117 Flanger-->Dunlop/CAE wah--> GCX--->amp
loop 1-Xotic effects AC Boost
loop loop 2-Wampler Paisley Drive
loop 3-Wampler Plextortion
loop 4-Aqua Puss Delay
loop 5-Line 6 FM4 frequency Modulator
loop 6-Xotic Effects EP Booster
loop 7-TC Electronics G Major in the loop of the amp

Thanks in advance for your help.

I solved the issue. I am using mahine screw to secure pedals vs velcro via the Bob Bradshaw method and I had created a grounding issue. Isolated the one screw and solved the problem.

Thanks,
