help with ground control pro , g major 2 setup

Post by X88fingazlouieX »

Im running my ground control pro, with a g major 2 through a peavey 6505 head. (note this is regular 6505 , not 6505+). Anyway, I was wondering if any of you run this same set up. If so, how do you go about bypassing the g major when you do no need effects? Currently I have my g major 2 setup so that i run a patch with no effects, which is in a sense sort of a bypass although the effects loop is still on. Is there anyway I can send a cc message with my ground control to the g major 2 bypass the effects loop legitimately. Also i Use the relays on my g major 2. I notice that when i run relay 1 and 2 both in closed position that the effects are on. But if i run relay 1 and 2 in open then their are no effects. Im assuming this is turning the effects loop off and on, but not completely sure. If anyone can help me with this problem, It would be greatly appreciated.

If the relay on the G-Major is controlling the effects loop bypass on the 6505 then I would guess that you are getting exactly what you want. Are you having trouble controlling the relay from the Ground Control?

The ground control pro switches the relay fine. Its weird because on the 6505 im pretty sure its switching the channels but the lights for the separate channels dont change. I hooked the same setup to my marshall head and i can actually see the channels being changed via the lights on the marshall.

I have basically opted to just not use the relays since I run my head on one channel all the time anyway. I was mainly wondering if there was a way I could just totally have the effects loop turned off when im not using any effects. I think the patch i created on the g major 2 with no effects works pretty well though as a bypass. Although im pretty sure the effects loop is still active. Im not quite sure what the relay settings would be on the G major to turn the effects loop off.

Do you have the same problem when switching the relay state within the G Major 2 itself? If you use a stereo cable between the Relay jack on the G-Major 2 and the Footswitch jack on your 6505 then you should have independent control over the amp channels and effects loop using the G Major relays. One relay will control the amp channels and the other will switch the effects loop.
