Control switcher and mesa boogie roadster

I just purchased a control switcher to free up spots and cables on my gcx that i was previously using to switch channels 1-4 on my mesa roadster.As you know the roadster midi jack is a 7pin and the control switcher is a 5 pin,can I use a standard midi cable instead of a custom cable? I know I wont be able to use all the roadster functions,I just need it to activate channels 1-4.Thanks

For the Roadster you can simply connect the four 1/4" jacks on the Control Switcher to the External Switching jacks on the back of the amp using standard mono instrument or speaker cables. It will take two Control Switchers in order to control all eight switching functions on a Roadster.

Understood,but ultimately I wanna free up the 4 cables I was already using to switch amp channels with the GCX because they are expensive cables and I'm trying to minimize clutter,and I have a few extra midi cables lying around.If possible I'd rather use 1 midi than 4 1/4 cables.Is it possible without a custom cable? Thanks again

The footswitch jack on the Roadster is not a MIDI jack. A custom cable will certainly be required in order to control the switching functions of this amp with anything other than the supplied footswitch.

While I agree about the potential clutter factor, the 1/4" cable expense should be a non issue... there is absolutely no need to use high end audio cables for this application. As for the DIN cable, unfortunately we currently do not have a solution for controlling the channel switching on the Roadster via the footswitch jack. Controlling the channel switching this way would require yet another small interface box that mimics a small portion of the footswitch circuitry.
