The tap tempo box was easy.. Just a box, a momentary switch, a mono jack connect the ground and tip of the jack plug socket to the 2 terminals of the switch and you're done. Cost me about £10 ($13) in all.... Saved me around £30 on a new one from a shop.

I won't be updating this post for a few weeks as i'm on holiday next week, and I need to save some money for that. I have been building some effects pedals though..... I've just build 2 18v Colorsound Power Boost clones, one for me and the other for a friend..... Next on the agenda is 2 Gilmour Big Muff clones.

The power boost is loud...... Really loud :o

I have a problem, and maybe John Clark can suggest a solution.

my current rack signal path is as follows:

Wireless Rear Panel output -> korg tuner rear panel input
Korg Tuner Rear panel output -> GCX rear panel Feed thru
GCX rear panel loop 8 out -> Area 51 Wah input
Area 51 Wah output -> Triaxis rear panel input
Triaxis rear panel L & R outputs -> G-Force L & R Inputs
G-Force L& R Outputs -> Randal power amp L & R Inputs

I have a Colorsound Power Boost clone that I want to use, but it has to go after the digital fx, the last effect before the pre-amp. Currently if i wire the power boost into the last GCX loop it's before the G-Force in the signal path and is slamming the input of the G-Force causing some weird sh*t to come out. Can I wire the G-Force through loops 1 & 2 of the GCX, and then out to the wah?? It'll mean using up 2 of the loops, but until i can afford to get loops 5 thru 8 converted to stereo i'm stuffed.

Any suggestions greatly received.

i suspect you're going to say wire the G-Force into the loop of the Triaxis, but i'm not sure that Triaxis fx loop is working correctly.

I would think you actually want to route this so its between the wah and the Triaxis Input.

That would put it, as you first suggest, as the last effect before the preamp.

Ok.... I had already thought of that... But I really want the boost in a loop preferably after the wah, the wah is on my pedalboard with a lead going from the rack to the wah input, then wah output back to the rack.

Maybe i should put the wah into a loop??

Maybe I'm missing something here since I'm not entirely clear what loops are being used on the GCX...

What is going on between the Rear Panel Feedthru and the Out of Loop 8? Are you using all eight loops? Did you internally normal all the loops in series? Let us know exactly what you are doing with the GCX and maybe we can come up with something that will work out.

Basically, you wouldn't need to put the Wah in a loop... and I wouldn't suggest doing so anyway since it makes a wah sort of hard to use to have its bypass now be somewhere else ;) ... what you would do is place the wah between two GCX Loops.

1. Out of loop "X" to input of the wah.
2. Output of the wah to In of Loop "Y".
3. Overdrive in Loop "Y".
4. Out of Loop "Y" to input of the preamp.

Currently there are no fx in any of the loops.... I have my rack tuner going into the rear panel of the GCX into loop 1.. I then have patch leads connecting loops 1 thru 4 then the output of loop 4 going to the wah.

Basically the GCX is now ready to accept fx as I need to add them (I'm currently making them)

The output to the wah can be moved from loop4 to loop 8 or any of the loops to be honest. I wanted it to be ready, and flexible so that i don't have to do mass rewiring

You mean instead of the small patch lead connecting loops X and Y, i run the cables to the wah... Genius.... You are a genius. it's obvious really.... But I couldn't get my head round it

but i still need to use 2 loops for the G-Force so i don't overload the input of the TC with the boost pedal... But the G-Force is stereo out so the boost can't go after that as that boost is mono..

i'll have to try the Triaxis loop again i think

With the overdrive in front of the preamp I doubt you will overload the G-Force anymore. Leave the G-Force where it is after the outputs of the preamp.

Try it out... I guarantee you are not the first person to have an overdrive in front of a preamp and an effects processor between the preamp and power amp ;)

John, I couldn't wait.... I tried it, and although it did work it's not ideal The input level meters of the G_Force are red lining, and I can't turn the pedal up to full volume. Also when it's at full gain the distortion isn't right..... Nothing like it sounds going straight into an amp... It's a power boost and the output of this pedal is crazy loud, not like a normal overdrive.
