GCP / GCX control Leslie G37

Hi All

I'm looking to assign latching commands to the GCP to replace the need for the Leslie FS-10TL Dual foot switch. The Leslie footswitch has two buttons On/Off and Fast/Slow. I assume that I'll need a Y-TRS cable but I'm unsure as to how to program loops 7 and 8 on the GCP. Ideally 7 would handle the On/Off and loop 8 would handle the Fast/Slow.

http://hammondorganco.com/products/lesl ... s/g37-g27/

Also, is it possible to assign Loop 4 to handle the global tempo of an Eventide H9?

Any help is much appreciated!

Yes, you are correct. You'll need what's called an "Insert Cable," with a TRS plug on one end that breaks out to a pair of TS plugs on the other. You'll connect the TRS plug to the Foot Switch jack on your Leslie, and the 2 TS plugs to Loops 7 and 8 of your GCX.

Please refer to Pages 10 and 11 in your GCX Owner's Manual for directions on configuring Loops 7 and 8 to function as Latching Foot Switches, and to see where to make the connections (Send/N.C. jack for Normally Closed or Out/N.O. for Normally Open).

The above info will also help you to configure Loop 4 as a Tap Tempo switch for your Eventide.

Hope this helps.

So I've gotten the switching done however I can't figure out how to assign Loop 4 to being a global tap tempo for the H9, current tap tempo is set for midi cc 4. I've switched Loop 4 to being Momentary and assigned Loop 4 to CH 4. I've tried Cont at 0,1,120 but they're not the tempo isn't being affected when I tap loop 4

thx

I think you mean maybe Ground Control Pro Instant Access button #4 rather than "GCX Loop 4"? The GCX loops aren't used for this particular parameter... it's all just done via MIDI from the Ground Control Pro. Forgive me if any of this is remedial but I'm just gonna walk thru the whole process.

Programming Ground Control Pro Instant Access Button...
1. Press both Setup Buttons at the same time to enter Setup Mode.
2. Press the button labeled Instant Access.
3. The first digit on the display indicates the Instant Access Button Number. Use the Select Up/Down buttons to select the Instant Access Button Number you want to re-program as H9 Tap Tempo.
4. Press the DATA + Button repetitively until the flashing characters start with "CH". this is the MIDI Channel the button will send on... use DATA +/- Buttons to set the MIDI Channel to match the H9 Receive Channel.
5. Press the Cursor Right Button once. The "CTL" number should now be flashing.
6. Use the DATA +/- Buttons to set the Control Change Number to either match the H9 (Default is 93 I believe) or simply set to a number you are not using for some other H9 Parameter.
7. Press the Cursor Right Button once.
8. Use the DATA +/- Buttons to set the button switch behavior type. For H9 Tap Tempo this should be set to Momentary.
9. Press either Setup Button to exit Setup Mode, then press the Yes Button.

Programming on the H9...
1. Enter System Mode by Pressing and Holding the HotKnob Button and the Right Footswitch Button at the same time. Once the screen changes release the buttons.
2. Turn the Center Knob until you see the MIDI screen.
3. Press the Center Knob as a button to enter the MIDI programming section.
4. Turn the Center Knob until you see the "RCV.CTL" screen.
5. Press the Center Knob as a button to enter the CC programming section.
6. Turn the Center Knob until you see the "TAP" screen.
7. "TAP" should be flashing. Press the Right Footswitch Button twice to get to Learn Mode.
8. On the Ground Control Pro you can now press the Instant access button you programmed to use as Tap Tempo. If everything is correct, the H9 should respond by flashing the matching CC number you've used on this Instant Access Button. (If the H9 does not respond then the MIDI Channel of the Instant Access button is not set to match the H9 Receive Channel, OR MIDI simply isn't making it all the way thru to the H9 MIDI In. It is also possible that MIDIClock is enabled... H9 will respond to MIDI CC for tempo OR MIDI Clock, but it won't do both at the same time.)
9. Back to the H9, to Exit System Mode, press and Hold the HotKnob Button and the Right Footswitch Button at the same time. Once the screen changes release the buttons.

I hope that helps!

If you let us know at what step things didn't quite work as described, we can help figure out what's missing. ;)
I have an H9 here that I ran thru all this with as I wrote so it should work unless I goofed a step when typing it all up.
